Has he?

yes

Why is he an analyst instead of being a DC if he’s still elite?

I don't think he's doing anything right now. When he got fired at USF he went to Bama as an analyst, then Meyer hired him for the Jags. That blew up, as everyone knows, and was then the co-DC at Miami. For whatever reason, he was no selected as the DC for 2023 and he left and went back to Bama as an analyst in Saban's last year. As of now, I don't know if he's coaching anywhere.

He has plenty of money and I think he's being picky about any job he takes, that's just my opinion, because in the Mullen tenure Strong let it be known that he would go back to UF as the DC, back when there was constant heat on Grantham. Then Mullen got fired.

He didn't do well as a HC but he's always been considered a top DC.

Yeah I think strong is one of those hot defensive names from the earlier 2000’s that quickly fell out of flavor once pro style offenses stopped being the norm

So he’s a name but probably not one to get excited about

Day has had everything given to him succeed at OSU and hasn’t yet been able to get over the hump, what would be different for him in Gainesville aside from shittier facilities and more competition on the recruiting trail?

Good question. I think he would be an instant improvement in recruiting, program management, and win total, which would help further with recruiting. Facilities don't matter as much now with NIL. UF's are certainly good enough to not be a liability.

Only way I see it is if he’s getting a lot of pressure at Ohio State and feels like he could be fired soon.

That would be the story for sure.

He has to win a NC in the next couple of years or he's done. He's in a good spot this year. And, I doubt he's getting any external pressure. But, he know what the expectations are.

I hope Ohio State does not run him off because I don't see a guaranteed improvement in replacing him. He does piss me off sometimes like the final drive vs Georgia.

Unless he’s pushed out, there’s no way he would make that move.

To me, this is it. Go get a guy who can rebuild the culture from the ground up then have a Day or someone like that.

Also, Day has never had to rebuild a program. Florida needs someone who fundamentally can build a strong institution. You need a control freak.

Ryan Day seems like more of a content CEO head coach who was given everything and never had to learn how to build

Well Day has been asked to change from a control freak to a CEO. He wants to be a control freak I think but he believes with the demands in the NIL world, a HC shouldn't also be calling plays for example.

It is unknown how that will work out longterm of course

I mean, that’s an OC thing. I mean like going into everything surrounding the on field product.

He'll take the UF job when he's ready for a boatload of cash to Shuffleboard.

UF job has the appeal for young up and comers or retirees.

I hope Napier sticks around, it really seems like the program has turned a corner. They have a good thing going IMO. Develop this QB and the sky is the limit (terrible cliche).

As an LSU fan I'd support this hire. He won't be starting on 3rd base at Florida.

All joking aside, Napier should get one more year. Florida plays one of the toughest schedules.

He should have been fired last year.

Napier is a program builder. He’s not flashy or exciting, but he does things the right way and will establish a culture Florida can be proud of.

He took over a program that had zero discipline and off the field problems for a decade or more.

He isn’t the greatest play caller, but if he gets 5 years they will be an extremely tough opponent.

Why???? Day has a life job in Columbus now that Harbaugh is gone.

He pulls 11 wins in the regular season, they name a building after him and maybe gets a Sat/Sunday gig hosting historical movies on a local TV channel like Woody
