The Bevo conference probably wouldn't have them, but would the SEC welcome the Shockers?

Oh yeah absolutely. I rap with Mike Slive about twice a week and he's been hinting about, "Big things coming from Kansas". I thought he was talking about chicks with big butts. Slive loves him some big booty. Clearly, he was referring to the phoenix like rise from the ashes of the WSU football team.
I think you could be a legit SEC title contender in 3 years. 4 at the most.

I grew up in Wichita, and always really wished they would bring back football. I think they have had serious talks about bringing back the football program, but I'm not sure what keeps derailing it. I think the main thing is that they know they need a new stadium, and don't think they could raise the funds. That being said, I do believe they could easily get 40,000-50,000 fans in there every home game if they had a new stadium. They already pack out the "RoundHouse" for their home basketball games, and have done that for many years.

not these days... if you're not a big boy, people will stay home to watch them on TV

which is part of my point. Kinda go big or go home. To make sure the juice is worth the squeeze for WSU, they have to do it big and do it right.

The foundation is there, they have better potential support than most of the FBS schools. I think they need to make the commitment and go for it. I'd rather see the SEC bring up a program like WSU than take castaways from Bevo. OU, Okie light, KSU, KU all hitched their wagon to Texas, let em wither.

They already pack out their basketball arena (averaged 10,428 last year) for 15 or 20 home games. Why couldn't they get anyone to attend football? Especially if they were in a respectable conference. They could easily have the attendance of a UH, SMU, or Tulsa if not more.
