I know you are. Red Sox Dodgers in 2018 was still terrible in a historical context. It has a lot more to do with how baseball and TV viewership in general is trending than the teams. Last year was the least viewed World Series ever, this year probably will be one of the 3 or 4 worst as well regardless of the matchup.

I doubt it. The Braves have a massive fanbase considering pretty much all of the southeast sans Florida is in their pocket, plus Atlanta hasn’t been to a World Series in 22 years.
I think they will crush the Atlanta market, but that doesn’t carry national numbers

Not sure (and don't frankly GAF) but it would break the MSB and I'm here for it

Right. That’s sorta my point. Baseball viewership is trending towards 100% regional with no real national audience

So when you bring in two medium markets in the same area, it seems to be worst case scenario

Covid year proved to be an outlier for all sports. I wouldn’t really compare anything to that

Still not the lowest ever

Taking that one out, the lowest in terms of average per game was 2012 (SF-Detroit)
Averaged 12.636m viewers

I think it will be higher than that, but not by much

No, but it's not going to be one of the highest either.

That wasn’t really the point I gathered. You’re making it seem like the teams that get there are vital to the ratings. They’re going to be bad regardless.

Every WS is the lowest rated WS these days. Viewership numbers are down across the board for various reasons regardless of who is involved.

Two small market teams may be bad but so is a subway series or interstate series between the likes of SF and Oakland, two LA teams, two NY teams, two Chicago teams, KC and St Louis, etc.

The media creams themselves over a Mets-Yankees series and no one outside of the tri-state area gives a frick.

Baseball overall is regional sport, but certain teams can still bring in national eyeballs( Sox, Cubs, yanks, Dodgers, etc)
I don’t give a damn about ratings. I personally would love an Astros/Braves World Series.

I would not watch one pitch of a Redsox/Dodgers series.

Yeah, there are tons of us Barves fans that have been wanting a deep playoff run for a couple of decades. Hate that the 90s only produced one championship, but anything can happen in a 7 game series. Last fall was great, until the eventual collapse against the Dodgers, which is why I'm still not convinced we win this series, even being up 3-1 again.

you compltely missed that dude's point. Becuase of the tbs superstation from the 90s practically the entire southeastern united states are braves fans.

GA/SC/NC/KY/TN/AL/MS are all going to be tuning in cheering braves. North Flordia as well.

If the point you're tryuing to make is "this WS won't get as many eyeballs as the red sox vs dodgers" well no shite. Not sure that even needed to be siad. But it damn sure won't be the lowest rated ever.

There’s a shite ton of sidewalk Braves fans that won’t even know the Braves are in the playoffs until they advertise the World Series. It will have good ratings

I guess we will see if it has good ratings or not. Throwing out the covid year, Giants vs Detroit is worst ever average rating at 12.6 million viewers average

“Good” for these days would be around 16-17 million

I wonder how much this holds true. It’s been 15+ years since the Braves were on TBS. While they do still have the strongest following in the South, I doubt it’s close to what it was in the ‘90s. Not to mention they simply haven’t been as great as they were in the ‘90s.

Also, as it’s been said, Sox-Dodgers would get low ratings as well, evidenced by 2018. Add the ratings dip across the board post-COVID.
