The current format is fricking stupid. Like giving everyone in little league a trophy.

theses two things are not alike at all.

No. Because teams that are ranked lower than 4 make the final 4 almost every year.

Fine. What about a 32 team tournament? I believe 2006 George Mason, 2011 VCU, and some LSU team from back in the mid '80s are the only teams ranked lower than an 8 seed that went on to make a Final Four appearance.

Cutting it to 16 would considerably reduce the fun and excitement of the tourney.

The teams seeded 5-16 add to the excitement. They have little chance to win it all, but it gives TV ratings a boost.

The first two rounds of the NCAA tournament are the most fun weekend in all of sports, from a purely spectator point of view.

I agree with this. Plus brackets are a lot of fun. If you cut the teams in half, I don't think it would be nearly as fun. They can leave it the same as far as I'm concerned.

At least we know those are nothing but exhibition games.

I'd have to agree with this.

I rarely watch bowls like the Texas bowl,New Orleans Bowl,Sun Bowl or etc.

But the first weekend of the tournament is exciting because of the number of games in a short period of time.

I can agree with this. There are a lot of schools in recent years who have fired coaches that made bowl games in their last year. If that doesn't speak volumes about how watered down bowl season is, I don't know what does.

Yeah and no one watches them because they know they don't matter. People will watch Duke vs. Lehigh, especially when an upset is possible. I tuned into the end of that game because I heard it was on upset alert. If two low ranked football teams were in a competitive game, I couldn't care less.

how about the fact that a 6-7 UCLA team made it to a bowl game this year and lost. Absolutely ridiculous.

Atleast with the tourney teams actually have a winning record overall.

There are 31 automatic bids for the tourney. Can't take away the reward for smaller schools winning their conference, and power conferences deserve multiple bids.

Agree with poster who said The NCAA tourney should be 32 teams max. Make the top 25 count for something. Still plenty exciting with 32 teams.

Also agree all the football bowl games are much worse!

I hate to argue against the same point that I'm trying to make...but I believe WKU got into the dance with a losing record this year...
