I was only joking.....but

The Steelers weren't guaranteed a #1 seed "if healthy". And I wonder what in the world Tebow had to do with the Steelers not making it to the SB.....

Doesn't Griese only have one ring as a Starter?

SB 7 and SB 8. They beat the skins 14-7 and then beat the Vikes the next year 24-7.

You know you're a fluke when the only time you have won a playoff game was during 2 fluke superbowl runs.

Ridiculous statement. Winning 3 playoff games in a row just to get to the 2 SBs...yep, all fluke.

anything can happen in one game, though of course back up punt returns muffing 2 punts are regular occurances, not flukes

And while we're talking about flukes, I don't think that Brady's Pats beat the Panthers that year if Kasay's kickoff stays in bounds...

Also this is a question I have been dying to ask to all of you who hate Big Ben and Eli. Why is it the norm to say a player has a better team around him to discredit a Quarterback who wins in the post season?

I don't hate Big Ben. Much like Tebow, I hate the narrative that is built up around him.

To me it's just that you guys can't handle the fact that Eli and Big Ben are Elite QB's who produce on the biggest stage. And so what if they have a subpar superbowl or playoff game.

Why are you bunching Ben with Eli. Ben is actually a good QB and has the #s to back it up. Eli has a career 82 QB rating.

How is it a fluke getting to the Super Bowl?

going from 6-6, to 7-7 to making the playoffs is the fluke. Winning a playoff game on 2 muffed punts, one of whihc bounced up and hita guy in the knee is not the norm either.

I'm not sure who hates these guys, I don't, but I'll try and answer.

Its not to discredit the QB, its to discredit the people that insist on saying the QB "won" the game. It takes a team to win. Think Eli would be holding the trophy if he played for Washington or the Rams? No chance. Now, would those teams have ben better with him? probably so.

so you admit the whole false argument that people "hate" Eli or Ben is your own strawman, good for you.
I don't know how you define elite, but to meEli and Ben are very good QB's, just below Brady, Rodgers, Brees and Peyton, nothing wrong with that.

For some reason, I though Morrell started one of those Superbowls.

Nothing is guarentted, but all they needed was 1 more win. I don't know if they beat SF if he was healthy, but he clearly was not when they played.

He had a good game when the Broncos beat them, nothing more, nothing less.

Jim Kelly is an 84. Marino is an 86.

You think Ben is better than those guys?

Big Ben's rating is roughly the same as Joe Montana's. Do you think they are equivalent?

Yep.

I'm really enjoying the Giants' win last night on so many levels.

Now, the Patriots' point differential in their SB appearances is a mere +2.

A Manning is "clutch". Again.

And thanks to this thread, two of those wins by the Pats can be considered "flukes".

I don't really like the word fluke, but not sure what else to say.

I'm just glad something brought the Pats down to earth a bit, when they won 3 of 4 people were over reacting and comparing them to the 49ers and Cowboys.

Yep. And don't forget the smug fans and media. No more of this, "Only the Patriots would do this 'whacky', out of the box thing and win..." (when that thing is actually pretty common among NFL teams...).

How come Eli isn't IIII ??

And I find it funny his middle name is his Momma's maiden name. He comes across as a huge Momma's boy, and he looks like a Nelson.
