Rich Rod ended bad, although I get why he did it. He probably had a lifetime appointment at WVU.

I thought he could do well there. I heard there were some powerful people scheming against him from day one.

The real odd one is Tuberville leaving Texas Tech for Cincinnati.

Dude was cold hearted. Left a group of 5 recruits at a dinner table and never came back when he got the call.

Curry was never accepted at Alabama though amirite?

I've heard him speak several times and this is definitely true. At least he felt it was.

a brick was tossed through his office window when he lost Ole Miss in 1988.

you think Saban received the same treatment when he lost to LA Monroe in his first season?

hell no.

Definitely not but to be fair Saban had a NC under his belt and that was year one for him.

Very true.

but he lost to a Fun Belt squad.

only thing that would have made that better was that if were South Alabama that had done that.

he's done so much since then that it doesn't matter but it shows you that unthinkable things do happen to even the best of the best.

That loss is the last time Alabama lost to an un ranked team. Alabama hasn't lost to an unranked team in 12 years.

shouldn't have happened in the first place.

it all goes back to my original answer as it applies to Alabama and that was Mike Price.

his abrupt ending was followed up by Mike Shula who never beat Auburn.

So I guess that whole fiasco may have been what they needed to set their sights higher.

so never mind it was all apart of the process

That's the same reason Jones went to SMU

Notre Dame giving Charlie Weis a $30 million guaranteed extension just because he played 2005 USC tough and almost won.

The dude had coached 7 games.

Notre Dame paid him $24.5 million to not coach the team. After he was fired he got $2 million annually from Notre Dame.

Gary Andersen got out before he was going to get fired. He didn't get along with Barry Alvarez at all. Problem is Oregon State was an awful, awful job at the time for him to go to. Terrible fit.

He got out before he was going to get fired. Boosters were pissed when they didn't make the CFP in 2018. They were super close.
