You guessed it. The fricking Yankees vs. Red Sox. Because it's the goddammed law that if the Yankees and Red Sox play on the weekend, then Fox will show the Saturday game and ESPN will show the Sunday game at night.

The Yankees and Red Sox play each other 19 times a season. How often do the 2 teams that met in the World Series the year before get to play each other?

In the grand scheme of things it's no big deal because I circumvent MLB's loony blackout policies and watch the Astros with the help of my friend, Josh Reddit....but the baseball people are bitching about baseball not having a face and how it is decreasing in popularity. It's because baseball continuously force-feeds us the same teams over and over. It has seriously turned me off to the game. I don't watch any baseball game not involving the Astros.

End rant.

In fairness, they do have the two best records in baseball

But also, I totally agree with you

They would still be on anyway though.

Ask a random group of 100 people who played in the World Series last year. Ask the same group what the biggest rivalry in baseball is.

That’s why it’s televised as heavily as it is, I’d imagine.

Nah, just pointing out how narrow minded the networks are.

I agree, and the Dallas Cowboys will still be the national 3:00 game forever.

Maybe, but this is a bad time to argue against that matchup getting the national coverage.

Why dont you go check how much better their ratings are compared to any other team

Are yall suggesting networks shouldnt put on the games people want to see the most?

You’re right.

The networks will go bankrupt if ONE FREAKING Yankees/Red Sox game isn’t nationally televised.

It's not a bad matchup to show but there are several other weekends a year when they play.

Astros vs Dodgers play a one series a year every three years.

And this right here is one of baseball biggest obstacles. Baseball is such a regional sport and many fans only watch their teams. Unlike with football and basketball, fans of those sports are more than likely going to watch games without any fan allegiances tied to them.

And this is where the MLB needs to devise a marketing strategy to grow the game.

And guess how many times that person has watched Red Sox Yankees? Probably none.

The red Sox Yankees fans outside of their network areas will find ways to watch the red Sox and Yankees. You're just not bringing any new fans into the arena when that's all you put forward every single year again and again.
