I understand the word before it takes into account.

But why is this word sometimes used as an insult?

I could see their regional TV deal sucking though because AT&T bought it out of bankruptcy. I have no idea though.

The early start on the West Coast hurt. I would like to see the ratings throughout the game. I bet several markets saw a big jump as the game progressed.

I also think the lack of Cubs & Yankees hurt, but for a reason no one is mentioning. Both of those two teams have a huge national following, and both were ousted in the previous round. Those fan bases completely tune out baseball once their team is out.

Other years they might have had at least a casual interest in the WS, but disappointment in getting close caused them to lose all interest this year.

the 5 start time is also a horrific idea by MLB and fox and definitely had an impact

I'm just asking from the "small market" point of view.

Although Houston one of the largest in the country, one of the perceptions that the Astros are a small market team is because they don't have their own TV Network.

Baseball is a weird sport. Due to history and national appeal it seems like the media will just assign market size.

Example: St Louis is regarded as big market while Houston/Texas are small.

I know they shouldn't be small market, but they always get lumped in with small market teams.

when factoring in their history and national appeal, they more closely resemble a small market team (tampa bay, kansas city) than a big market team such as the dodgers or yankees.

Why is Oakland small market? Bay Area is huge and historically franchise has won.

I dont know where you hear houston is small market. Its not. Its 5th/6th with philadelphia.

FWIW it's 8th. LINK

And it's more that it's not a big market, but it makes sense. The big markets are more metroplex than single city.

I think the local fox affiliate, or it's parent company, is in a dispute with DirectTV. Got to a certain date, and they pulled the plug on it.

A lot of friends were posting pictures of a message on their TVs last night about the network not being available.

The burbs are still going to root for the mothership. Don't really see your point.

Edit: according to Corby on enews "This is Us" had better ratings than Game 1. Wtf is wrong w/America

What's your definition of "awful"?

Dodger fans are some of the most loyal, life long fans of any team.
