World Series- ticket pricing question
Posted by GoldenSombrero on 10/19/21 at 12:57 pm11
Question for those who've been to a World Series in recent years. Is $1K a ticket pretty standard?
I'm looking at tickets for Game 1 in ATL (assuming they make it) and the prices are A LOT higher than I anticipated. This is upper deck.
Are there better options than Stub Hub? Or will prices potentially drop any once the teams are finalized?

Tickets are actually going to get much more expensive once teams are finalized. You should buy them now.

I paid $950 for outfield seats for the Rangers v Cardinals (kill me) in 2011.
Surprised they are that cheap tbh.

While I strongly object to even suggesting the notion as applied to Atlanta...
Our ticket prices for playoff games have crashed in recent years in the final hours before first pitch. But I assume the demand would be really strong for a Braves WS even before you get to the non-fan attendees. It's been a long layoff and the matchup would be appealing (esp. if Red Sox).

Last year in the bubble, you could get in for around $400. Obviously that was different, but I was surprised with how cheap it was.

I paid somewhere around $550 for upper deck at Citi field in 2015 for the game the Royals clinched but they were someone's season tickets and not secondary market.

I went to game 3 in 2017 Dodgers/Astros and game 2 Nats/Astros in 2019. Both times prices were way more expensive before the series started. They would be about $800-1100 for upper deck until day before the game. Both times I ended up in the upper deck for $580 after buying about 5 hours before gametime on SeatGeek.

If you can get them from the team when they go on sale, that's your best bet. Or maybe wait til the last minute and try to find some on stubhub from scalpers that are dumping what they didn't sell.

Haven’t even gone on sale to general public in Atlanta. Those are ALIST members tickets you see rn. Wait.

Probably. Especially with it being Friday, Saturday Sunday if Braves make it.
Eta: don’t know what face will be though through Braves. They were $90ish in 343 after fees for this series.

Bumping this thread. Want to go to ATL game 3 on Friday spur of the moment from NOLA. Cheapest non standing room is $1250 a piece before fees on secondary (about $1500 per with). Thinking about waiting till day of and buying a few hours before first pitch. Main concern is I don’t want to get stuck flying in and waiting too long for that to price skyrocket when supply dips. Any feedback from the locals on when to pull trigger would be appreciated.

Worst case scenario is you have to watch from the Battery.

I paid about 350 a ticket for game 7 of Astros and Nats. Up top, but still, 350 in the door wasn't bad at all

I paid 300 for Rangers vs. Cardinals game 6 2011. Worst seat in the house but still a great night.

Good luck

I paid $100 in 2017, but I also bought my tickets through the Astros.

Demand will be higher in ATL than HOU. $1k is pretty much standard for Stubhub, slightly higher because Atlanta Fans are hungry. I watched prices for a few days leading up to games 1 & 2 and it looked like about 3-4 hours before the game the prices came down a bit. I saw a few in the lower upper deck at Minute Maid go from $1500 each 3 days before to $650 each a few hours before the game.
The biggest difference is that this is the 3rd Series in Houston in the last 5 years, and the first in Atlanta in over 20 years- so expect to pay more in Atlanta.

Bro-in-law just offered me a cheap ticket for Saturday. $200 bucks. I've had plans for a while now to go to Nashville this weekend to see my gf who lives up there, and we have concert tickets at the Ryman on Saturday night. frick.
