I got approached a couple of times to throw games. The one interesting time they come to me in my neighborhood and say, ‘Hey, I got $35,000 for you.’ I’m like, ‘That’s cool, I’ll take $35,000.’ They say, ‘We need you to throw a game.’ That’s when I’m like, ‘You a—holes.’ But it crossed my mind — $35,000 to throw a game? Not bad. But that’s the problem … they find these kids that ain’t got no money and they attack them.”

World Peace, who went by Ron Artest back in college, didn’t specify which games he was asked to throw or when it occurred. He played two years at St. John’s in the late 1990s, averaging 10.9 points per game. The Red Storm went 22-10 and 28-9 overall in his two seasons, getting bounced in the first round of the 1998 NCAA Tournament and reaching the Elite Eight in 1999.

I have always said I would predict college basketball has a few thrown games/shaved games a season

You have the perfect storm

Kids with no money and if they lose a single game it isnt a big deal for their season anyway

I will say the UVA game this year sure felt weird as frick

I"m sorry but i will never believe things like this that come from Ron Artest.
Artest said that Ben Wallace and the Pistons called him after the Malice at the Palace and apologized. Ben Wallace and the Pistons say that never happened.

That specific group was actually behind the Boston College point shaving scandal in the late 70s.

Agreed. Some people just can't stand no longer being relevant and will do anything to get back the spotlight.

Ron Artest is one of these people.

UNLV threw their 1991 semi-final against Duke.

Same teams from the previous year - every player was the same on both sides.

And it beat Duke in the Finals by 30 points and the loses to Duke then next year by a suspicious 2 points.

Kansas or Georgia perhaps?

I know both schools had Glen Oaks players who did shady crap while there.

Wasn't he so obvious about it that the announcer commented on a mistake looking suspicious during the Memphis game?
