Since they turn it down. They should offer 100% of the profits after expenses. They get the rest

Man there are gonna be some salty posters that don't understand economics on here when that deal gets done. "They've never turned a profit" while owners investments have gone up $100s of millions.

It’s a glorified charity

Do they not realize that the WNBA still lost like $40 million last year even with CC?

So they "lost" $40 million last year and just sold 3 expansion teams rights for $750 million? that's more than the WNBA has "lost" in the history of the league combined,

The leagues books are private. Show me a business that loves to inflate how much they are profiting rather than overstating their losses?

So if the owners threaten to shutter the league, what's the counter on the player's part?

They would use the only card they know that will make the loudest noise for them… the victim card.

They would cry racism, homophobia, and sexism. They would rally as many radical activist they could to help them try to gaslight the public into thinking they deserve 50% of the revenue.

Facts, logic, and economics be damned… the victim card and their feelings trump everything. Give me! Give me! Give me!

I hate the players just as much as the next guy. But business wise it makes sense why the WNBA owners wanna keep this thing going

The WNBA owners are fine "losing" $10 million a year while their investment is worth $100 million more than it was the year before.

Crazy how a teams value is going up 100m/year…..damn…

Yes, because the financial system is proven to be reliable using fundamentals that aren't easily exploitable

Im not denying that the WNBA owners are exploiting the system. Im denying that they are "losing money"

If Caitlin Clark left the league today, would the amount of the offer change?

In 2025, WNBA franchise values have seen a dramatic increase, with the league's 13 teams collectively valued at $3.5 billion, a 180% increase compared to the previous year, according to Sportico.

So even with massive subsidies from the NBA, their entire league might be worth as much as one small market NBA team.

ah, so you think all WNBA owners are just all idiots?
Picking the right tax breaks is a sign of intelligence. Picking one that simultaneously provides credit in their social circles is next level

Why are you comparing a private entertainment company to a public tech company?

What an asinine comparison.

You could make a better argument without that ridiculous comparison.
