Alcaraz vs Rune on Wednesday. Both young players extremely raw on grass. 1-1 H2H record. In their last meeting, Rune was up a set and up 3-1 in the 2nd set TB before Alcaraz withdrew with an abdominal injury. Rune then continued his insane run in the Paris Masters winning the championship over Djokovic.
Grass records
Rune in 2023: 7-1
Rest of career: 0-3
Alcaraz in 2023: 9-0
Rest of Career: 4-2

And that's likely all it will take for Djokovic.
I'd love to see the % of points won by each player by rally length. Have to think that anything longer than 5 shots is like 90% Djokovic.
They don't have data on this going back historically, but I'd love to see Novak's winning percentage on points over 5 shots vis a vis other all time greats. He's gotta be at the top. Rafa is up there too. Borg as well. But it's gotta be Novak at the very top.

Rune vs Alcaraz is a budding rivalry that I hope we see for years to come.
They go way back. I could have sworn I saw a clip of them playing each other in the 12s, but maybe it was Alcaraz playing someone else.

I can't be the only one annoyed by Svitolina's stance of not acknowledging or shaking hands with Russian or Belarusian players post match

ETA: If I were in her position, I think I'd do the same. Also doesn't bother me if she's criticized for it.

Why. If we were at war with China and they were killing our countryman and family members would you want to shake hands or hug and kiss them. I wouldn’t.

If the US was at war with let’s say Canada and Canada was the aggressor, would you want a US player shaking hands with a Canadian?

You guys are going a little overboard with this. It’s tennis. Almost every player with a Ukrainian or Russian flag has been on the road most of their lives and has nothing to do with those countries anymore.
It’s not like soccer or some other team sport. You don’t see these issues in UFC.

Rublev grabbed the first set but his level dropped a lot in that first service game in the second set, and he was broken. Just broken again, this set is over.
That’s the thing about playing Djoker or formerly Nadal/Fed: you have to maintain a high level of play for the whole match. It’s one reason why it’s so difficult to beat them. If you relax even a bit, you get blasted.

Novak/Sinner is shaping up to be a doozy
Posted on 7/11/23 at 1:51 pm to bayoucracka
Rublev played decently but ultimately he does not have the all-around game to challenge Djokovic, at least not on grass. He’s not good enough at the net firstly, and as a base liner/counter puncher his style can sometimes really play into Djokovic’s strengths. He did well to take a set but he cannot really challenge Novak.

Novak ended up with a pretty tough draw - Hurkacz, Rublev, and Sinner to get to a potential final. Sinner will be a really tough match it's good he gets two days off before hand.

Watching Novak dominate in tennis was like watching MJ dominate in basketball.

I agree. He started
Slow like he sometimes does, but just makes the right changes and dominates….
