i hope he doesn't get picked so he can spend the entire offseason fully recovering and practicing for the push for 19

hopefully sometime in that stretch he finds a new swing coach

This. There should be some dignified way for a Watson to make overtures and for Woods to preemptively bow out due to medical reasons.

Some deference is due the GOAT.

If Tiger told Watson that, then he is just being selfish. No way is Tiger ready to play.

Agreed. If you're hurt, you're hurt. I don't buy the whole "he suddenly sucks". He's obviously injured. Dude needs to cool his jets. If he gives himself the time to heal up and works on his swing, he could still have 6-8 years left in him as a top contender. In that time he'll almost certainly eclipse Snead's record. If he goes one step further and gets his mind right, he may get back on track for the major's record.

Tiger does not deserve to be on the team.

Agree. But that has nothing to do with TV ratings.
I watch all the Majors whether Tiger plays or not.

But I'm not watching the Ryder Cup unless Tiger plays. I enjoy watching him fail and pout. And I don't think I'm the only viewer who enjoys the Schadenfreuda.

I agree. Really enjoyed the final round Sunday of the PGA.....was pulling for Ricky.

I get that, but I would rather watch him implode by himself.....not during a team event.

Oh, I hope the US wins. But I hope Tiger loses all his matches in the process. It's great stuff to watch him whine and tell the press how much better he's playing. I've never watched the Ryder Cup before Tiger. Never will after Tiger. It's a boring tournament.

tiger isn't owed any deference for anything ... you're either good enough to make the team or you're not ... watson won't pick him, imo ...

He won't be picked to appease networks.

I don't think he'll get picked.

However, our team on paper is awful, bordering on zero experience, and other guys keep getting hurt.

Him and Stricker may both end up being captains picks the way it's going

Disagree.

They may be young but there's some serious talent in that 9.

There is a lot of talent, yes. I'm more referencing the fact that we have almost zero experience.

And from the captain's picks, Keegan will make the team, and then it's pretty difficult to pick any two others. You can't choose rookies for the most part, though I'd take Ryan Moore because of his match play past.

Yea I think Keegan is a lock.

And on the same premise Tiger could hold some serious value as far as being a leader/mentor. He's for sure a liability though. If I was Watson I'd much rather Tiger declare himself unable to play, I'd hate for it to come down to my decision.

100% agree. I don't know if Tiger is the massive dick that everyone makes him out to be or not, but the son of a bitch had drive and focus like nothing most of us had ever witnessed in a competitor when he was on. Maybe he can serve as a mentor or something.

He shouldn't be playing, though.

OK so B. Watson, Fowler, Furyk, Mickelson, Walker, Speith, Reed and Z. Johnson are in and healthy so far. Kuchar is in but not healthy, Dufner just out and not healthy. Who would you choose out of these guys? I go Bradley, Sneds and Compton

Your choices are
1. Bradley (experience and intensity)
2. R. Moore (solid and low key)
3. B. Todd
4. C. Kirk
5. W. Simpson (experience)
6. H. English (young and talented for the future)
7. B. Sneeedeeeker (experience and T. Watson buddy)
8. E. Compton (solid and great story)
9. T. Woods (ratings)

I'm sorry, but we all know that with the exception of Snedeker, that's not a very "good" lineup as far as skill and starpower go. I'm not shitting you when I remind you that Tiger has both more professional wins and more majors than the other 8 combined (crazy, right). Snedeker is an obvious choice. Other than that, I'd take the ballsuckingest Tiger over the rest. But not a hurt Tiger. Dude needs to sit this one out.

Don't boil him down to "ratings", though. It's cheap. His pro wins might equal the entire team combined (certainly would, minus Lefty), but I don't have time to dig into that.

No way we win anyway.

I should have said this in front of picking Tiger

Does he (Tiger) help the team in anyway if he plays and is still doing what he is doing now? NO then it is ratings

If he is healthy and good to go then he is the best player on our team.....that is a big IF!!

I think ratings are of no concern and I believe Tiger can bring more to the team than just that. He's not the most deserving now though with the way he's been playing. Only way he makes it is if they look at his experience and potential "locker room" presence.

I've heard a lot of talking heads speculating that Snedeker will probably be picked.

bradley and sneds are in for sure, as others have said ... kuchar should be fine by the ryder cup ...

as for the last captain's pick, i've no idea ... compton is a great story, and watson's not adverse to such a move, imo ... i'd go with moore, as previously mentioned, since he's won an amateur ...

I wonder what the odds are that Tiger will ask to play 18 holes with Tom so Tom can guage first hand where Tiger's game is?
