I'm not even commenting on how they spend money. I'm just talking about their talent. They got a huge boost for drafting correa, who is still only 17 or so.

I don't hate on Houston teams: some of y'all are just delusional. I ended up being spot on about the Texans. So all the trolling stuff is retarded. When there is a legitimate point to he made, you can't shrug it out as trolling or hating just because it isn't what you want to hear.

I honestly don't think they're tanking on purpose.

But they are at the same time.

They have tons of cap space they are leaving unused and a terrible roster... all so they can suck now, get high picks, and then hopefully sign all these picks to nice contracts and secure the future.

There's really no two ways about it. They are losing "on purpose."

Now, it's part of their plan (so they say), but that does make everything murky and questionable, because they can just pass it off as "good business."

Make no bones about it, the front office and ownership are tanking on purpose. they are going as cheap as possible with the major league roster right now ensuring that they won't finish higher than last, no matter how hard the players, managers, coaches "try", they have no chance...now, I'm not arguing that its not a good business move or a move that gives them a quicker path back to respectability, but honestly, they are deliberately trying to tank the seasons for 3-4 years rather than be a middle of the pack club.

You get accused of bashing and trolling because you only make negative points and seem to take glee in doing so. This whole thread is talking about how they spend their money. There is reason to hope / believe that they are improving the minors, maybe that's fools gold, but to say there are no future all stars in the minors right now is just as delusional. There may not be a Strassberg type talent, but at this point in 1998 would you have said 23rd round pick Roy Oswalt would go 19-9 with in 5 years? I doubt it.

I don't see slashing payroll for this year as any long term concern. It could be he is a cheap bastard, but we have no way of knowing really and spending on FA at this point would be waste unless you think winning 68-70 games is really better than winning 58-60.

The reason they are in this mess is because McClane ingored the minors for years. Many of us saw this coming. You can not rebuild the minors in 1 off season. It will take a couple of drafts. If they are still spending less than $30M and have a bottom 5-10 system 3 years from now, I'll be concerned.

State of the Farm: It’s a slow climb to talent legitimacy, but the Astros have taken huge steps forward in recent years, drafting high-ceiling talent and trading to bolster depth.

Foltynewicz pitched against the Cubs today at MMP. He went 4IP 1H 1BB 7K. He was sitting 95-98 (many were 97-98). Correa collected 3 hits, DeShields had 2 hits, Singleton walked twice, Springer joined the parade with a single, and manchild Domingo Santana had 3 hits including a double and triple.

Depends if the Astros want to be cheap or not. Royals don't want to spend money, pissing the fans off.
