Brady is obviously the Goat in terms of resume but Mahomes has done incredible things to begin his career.

Never not hosted the AFC Championship.

Lost 1 playoff game in OT to Tom.

Won some sort of MVP every season he has been in.

Never lost by more than 1 score.

44-9 as a starter.

Will he go down as the best ever over Brady by the time his career is finished?

He is certainly has the talent to for sure.

I'm actually excited to see how he handles the longevity of it all. The most impressive thing about Brady is the ridiculous amount of roster turnover someone has to endure to start at QB for 20 years. I know he had stability with the same HC but to keep winning non-stop is insane.

If he avoids major injuries, yes. IMO he has to transition into a pure pocket passer for longevity.

No. Maybe most talented, but not the GOAT. It's hard to be that good for as long as Brady has been.

Amazing start. We'll see what happens when they have to rebuild in a couple years.

with all the Brady = GOAT threads yesterday it made me want to wait to see if he won another SB to ask "when will we crown Mahomes the GOAT?"

if Mahomes wins this SB he's 1/3 of the way to Brady's SBs already

he'll have this core for probably 2 years min. if he can split that's halfway to Brady already

well the Chefs have been pretty fricking good/great under Reid prior to Mahomes, so i imagine they will have a rebuild or 2

they draft REALLY well

The AFC also looks like it's about to be loaded with young QB talent, so the tides could change quickly. I'd also be interested to see how long they can hold on to the skill position talent they currently have.

People forget, but NE has rebuilt on the fly at least 3 times during Brady's career.

with his current trajectory, yeah I think he will easily be the GOAT. But still a lot of career left to unfold.

The question is how long can he can do what he’s doing? If he can maintain his level of play for the next 10-12 years or so while avoiding injuries, then he could go down as the best to ever do it.

But again, the speaks to the insane longevity of Brady despite all the turnover. There was a freakin' 10 year gap between Brady's first 3 and his last 3 while making it to 2 other SBs in between.

Can Mahomes lose the incredible talent around him and keep it going for 10 years and then win a few more SBs?

Whose to say?

So much goes into that which is out of his control. Coaching, teammates, etc.

For example, if Tom Brady was on Archie Manning's Saints he wouldn't be discussed in the GOAT conversation.

So he better hope the Chief's front office continues to surround him with great talent and coaching.

I could also see Andy Reid calling it quits after another one. Dude loves life outside of football, unlike that guy in New England.

He has the talent and the coach to get there. Will be a great storyline through his career.

Already is, IMO. His best is better than anyone else's best who has ever played the position.

He doesn't have the accomplishments of Brady and likely never will, but the talent and tape speak for themselves.
