Will Harden once again make the MVP trophy look worthless?

With the nba giving out a trophy after a 2 month postseason is over, it risks the award looking foolish. Last year, Harden made the award look pretty much pointless by winning it

Will he complete the death of the MVP trophy by winning it again? How does the MBA fix this going forward?

It is going to Gina. He had a great year and we congratulate him for it. Great season for the kid.

harden being top 2 4 years outta 5 is the real story here.

That’s a much more unique and worthy accomplishment than a single winner. Done by a handful of players at most in league history.

Hopefully he does. It felt so dumb giving the award to Harden after last year’s playoffs. I know it’s a “regular season” award, but it’s just bad optics for the nba. The playoffs are a huge amount of games and harden looked nowhere near the best player at all

Yep. Everyone thinks so highly of those 4 Buffalo bills runnerups in a row too. That was the real story, not the cowboys and 49ers and giants and Redskins winning super bowls.

Yea the whole awards show thing is stupid. Well it's not the worst idea but the timing is awful. We have an NBA champion crowned and a Finals MVP, but we're still wondering who's going to win Coach of the Year, MVP, MIP, etc.

Makes no sense at all.

Houston fans: "hardwn is top 2 in the league. He's gonna put it to GSW this postseason:

You aren’t really comparing an award voted on by the media, to the results of an actual game, are you?

Yes you are.

We are big picture. Hardens 5 year run is matched by few players ever. this proves it.

Media is finicky. They change their criteria yearly. To be in the conversation every year regardless of the changing criteria, it is the ultimate compliment.

Banners keep falling from the Toyota center rafters.

"One of the best 5 year runs without a title ever"

Can’t make it look pointless if he doesn’t win it

He made it look pointless last year already

This year would just shite on the entire thing and pretty much kill it

Harden will also take him his 3rd players MVP in 5 years. Showing that he has the ultimate respect of his peers.

Harden is not a casual fans guy, he is for the high IQ fan or nba player themselves.

Some dudes are regular season players who can't raise their game in the playoffs.

Not a bad 4 year run for a dude with no argument to be one of the top 3-4 players in the league.

Yes, it is very tough to grasp the intricacies of " create contact, shoot free throws, conserve energy for more contact while not dribbling ball" strategy. High brow stuff, really.

I give him all the credit in the world for his effectiveness, not denying it doesn't work, but let's not pretend he is out there playing some meta genius revolutionary style of basketball. He is a great shooter, ball handler and he knows how to initiate contact in a way that gives him the call more often than not. Steph Curry does this with his game too, popping his butt and stopping to make guys run over him while he attempts shots.

Only a casual fan takes vacations during the playoffs and misses his teams games all year. You just look at stat cast and don't watch enough games to have a real opinion

He doesn't though. The vacations are fake. His disappearances are too consistent to be a coincidence. He is just a bitch.
