I see both sides here.
Yes, nobody here would talk shite to 99% of NBA, NFL, etc. athletes faces. Mostly because they’d get their arse beat, but also because I think people would be more respectful in person.
On the other hand, this is a message board, so why do you care if some random dude calls anyone, including you, a bitch? Now, if it got racial or to the point it was constant and they were following you around boards, then yeah...we’d take care of it.
Otherwise, so what?

Not just ball players ,but female athletes & women in general
I would say 95% of the time ( excluding some drinking while posting episodes) I attempt to not type what I would not say publicly or in someones prescence.

When you watch Zdeno Chara play a Stanley Cup Finals game with a broken jaw and then see NBA players miss time with hamstring and calf injuries, it makes sense.
