Texas is a southern team. They may not be located in the Deep South, but they are a former Confederate state.

And yall sucking would help us. DUde, no offense, but I want yall to suck as hard as possible.

I want LSU to be great, and everyone else to suck. I have no pride or hope for Bama or any other SEC team to be good

I'm sure as hell am not taking any pride in Alabama's accomplishments.
You don't really have to..

The chant is usually used when a team goes and wins it all. So they're saying they're from the best conference and they trophy is staying in the best conference.

It's not like you have to watch Alabama win a NC and then do the chant on your couch

Except that is basivally what is happening.

I will murder the next "lsu fan" that says they are rooting for Bama because of the SEC

ETA: Maybe if we starting murdering fans we will be more successful like bama

Exactly! I have never chanted SEC after watching Bama or any other SEC team win a National Title, but I chanted my arse off in the Superdome in 2003 and 2007.

it definitely triggers me, but because of the following reasons (using GT/UGA as an example since they are SEC team that we play every year):

1) UGA beats us much more often than not. Why would their fans want to chant SEC! after beating us? UGA whooped GT's arse, it wasn't the SEC that whooped GT's arse. GT has a pretty strong record against SEC teams not named UGA over the past 10-15 years, so it has nothing to do with conference. Show pride in your own school and revel in the fact that your school is whooping us.

2) Because of the SEC chant, now, when GT beats an SEC team, our dumbass fans feel the need to chant "ACC!", and it's all as a response to the dumbass "SEC!" chant.

3) It's just flat out dumb to revel in the accomplishments of other schools when your own team can't take care of business. It's one thing to recognize that, in the grand scheme of things, fellow conference members' success benefits you. It's an entirely different thing to actively chant "ACC!" as a Duke fan when FSU, Clemson, etc does your dirty work.

TL;DR....dickriding is dumb

Yeah, uh, this ain't how it works.

Duke would chant ACC when THEY won something.

Also, the rest of the country shouldn't have ganged up on the SEC when it was really rolling. Y'all idiots came up with "SEC bias." Y'all shite on the SEC at every turn. Constantly put em down in the media even when it was clear that the conference was still top dog.

The other 4 conferences created this mess.

That's exactly how it works.

And please don't group me in with the others. I couldn't give two shits about conferences. I only care about my team (which sucks at the moment).

I don't like it because frick the rest of y'all.

It had a purpose back in the mid 2000s after Auburn got snubbed but now there is no reason for me to cheer for Bama, Florida, Georgia, aTm in 2018. I know if LSU can take care of their business (a laughable proposition at this time), they'll be in the playoffs.

t isn't Alabama's fault that LSU has lost its mojo of late

Actually it is.

The rematch that never should have happened aside. Saban targeted Louisiana for recruits from the start. He hired Burns but also had an advantage no other out of state program has ever had since he coached at LSU. Please note I don’t think he was targeting La to “screw” LSU like some fan may think. He just goes after the best players (he got Russell from Alabama to LSU) and knew how many are in La. He got Landon Collins when LSU was ranked #1 and had beaten Bama 2 years in a row and 3 out of 5 and was at the height of DBU. After that the flood gates were open. No doubt LSU blowing games in 2012 and 2014 didn’t help and that is on LSU but Saban was the one who built the fence and he tore it down

Zoom out and look at it again. It is a southern thing. Since 1980 until now the number of teams outside the south that have won a title decreases every 10 years, e.g.

Exactly...as southern players stay home now, the rest of the country will be hard pressed to win any national titles. OSU and USC are really the only ones for now that can stem this tide. Schools like ND and Michigan will have a major uphill battle.

SEC fans that don't promote the SEC are hypocrits. The better the conference does in-season, in bowls/national titles, ncaa bball, baseball, track, etc. = the more money going into the SEC. We should all want that money to continue to grow & go towards our respective programs when it's all split 15 ways (1 to each team & 1 to the conference office).

I’ll cut straight to the chase. They don’t like it because the SEC = the South.

They can’t stand to see the South united against them, especially in victory.

Yes, I can understand why. But this is why it gets under their skin.
