Such a "different" league

quote:

“It was good to see the men just interacting with each other and enjoying something new. You could tell they were like little kids a little bit, the way they were sitting there, smiling, eating cookies,” Giles said. “It’s not like the barbershop. . . . People try to be tough in the barbershop [but], when you go to the nail salon, I feel like you just got to let it all out. Chill out and relax and have a good time.”

quote:

Portland Trail Blazers guard Evan Turner, in his ninth season in the league, was a young and impressionable player when his former agent, David Falk, shared stories of his client Michael Jordan getting pedicures. If the GOAT could get his calluses shaved down, certainly so could Turner. “I used to cut them myself, and once Falk told me the story about MJ, I was like, ‘Oh, hell yeah!' ” Turner recalled. " ‘I’m doing that all the time!’ So I [wanted to] get a mani-pedi every day."

quote:

“When I go alone, I feel a little bit weird but, when I’m with my wife, I have somebody to talk to and not feel as weird,” Milwaukee Bucks center Jason Smith said. “Because I don’t know, like, the lingo. Like: ‘Oh, can I get this done? Can I get that?’ I’m just like: ‘There they are! Go to work!’ ”

quote:

“I never wanted to get them done,” admitted Washington Wizards Coach Scott Brooks, “because you’re embarrassed of your toes. “I mean, they’re a combination of dead toenails, hammer toes. . . . I would imagine all basketball players have bad toenails, just from the shoes and all the running and stopping and starting.” Brooks now gets routine pedicures with his wife

I've never had a pedicure, but it is true that basketball destroys your toes and toenails.

I played D1 and usually had at least one toenail turn black and fall off at the beginning of every season. The start/stop and cutting just tears them up. I'm just happy with my misshapen toes and don't bother trying to pretty them up, though.

Think that's bad, you ought to see what a professional ballerina's feet look like.

Let's just say they won't be wearing many pairs of open toe shoes when they head out in public.

i have never had a pedicure. But i imagine they do love it. The trauma they put their feet through is insane. Most athletes have rough feet and toes. Have you ever seen deion sanders feet?
