Well it was obvious what you where trolling for when you started this thread.

No, I think it has to do with the sucker punching and cheap shots. You don't really see that in hockey where it's 1-on-1 standing up. There's no kicking of downed opponents, no thuggery.

So you're saying had the Xavier, Cincy players went toe to toe beating each other faces in like the hockey players, no one would be mad right now, right?

There's like 6 black people in the NHL, I'm sure they've fought at some point.
There are lots of minorities in Baseball who brawl and its socially acceptable.

Why didn't you just say this in your OP? It was obvious you were waiting for this answer.

college students shouldn't be fighting.
grown men fighting in baseball or hockey is just the culture given certain circumstances and is to be expected.. you don't expect brawls in college athletics.

I think Sheffield was the main guy in the brawl SFP was talking about.

This is also true.
It's illegal to fight in college hockey too, for example. Fighting in college hockey = suspension, just like all the other NCAA sports.

Just wanted to see how many posters would deny the obvious. I also wanted to see how posters will come up for reasons why there's a difference in the reaction to the fights.
The funniest was "it's ok for the hockey players to fight because it's their "culture". Well after the game, the BBall players pretty much said it was their "culture" to fight. But that wasn't valid excuse for them to fight.
Look, i think it's horrible for ANY fighting. Sports or on the streets. Just think it's funny how there's such a DRASTIC difference in reaction to when certain sports fight only to have those people rationalize why it's ok for some people to fight but not others.

No, I'm saying you're doing a piss poor job of trolling. Regroup, rethink your strategy, and come back with better material next time.
And this guy says frick your racial trolling bullshite "double standards"

You are a terrible fricking poster if you are serious about this.

The funniest is you confusing "culture" in the sense I used it for the "culture" of the athletes.

Can't say I'm surprised by a cinci ball squad though
As my buddy said, "they got really hood reall quick"

They shouldn't be but they shouldn't get charges pressed against them. That's just overboard if you ask me and that may have to do with the perceptions/prejudices/pre-conceived notions

Just two nights ago, I saw a fight during a hockey game on SportsCenter. The fans were cheering the fight on, the anchors on SC were in laugh mode. The fight eventually ended when one player finally hit the ice with a bloody face....no outrage from the public.
there's no outrage because it's part of the sport, a sport that most folks don't give a shite about. If they want to fight, fine by me. Fans that care about college basketball don't want fighting to be part of the sport and want major penalties when fights occur.

You can't tell the difference?

It comes down to the amount of pride in fighting.
You have Blount and Yancy Gates sucker punching people who are not trying to fight then stomping on them. Or you hockey players who look at each other and say "you and me are about to fight, just you and me, no one else, when you hit the ice we're done. Do you agree? Ok lets fight."
Those first two guys are cowards, punks and thugs. And it has nothing to do with race.

Look at the difference in the fights. A hockey fight is two guys and when one guy goes down, it's over. No one leaves the bench, because if they do, it's an automatic suspension.
In the UC-XU game, it was a bench clearing brawl in which one of the guys gets sucker punched. Then, while he's on the ground, someone kicks him. The fight was wholly out of control.
Even beyond "it's the rules and part of the game", its the difference in the fights themselves.
