Along with Machado/Harper having to wait all offseason to be signed. Reminiscent of the Andre Dawson, Jack Morris, et all collusion in the 80’s hat eventually went to arbitration.

I've been surprised all year that the Yankees haven't signed him, especially with Severino on the IL for an extended period of time.

Because he wants way more money than anyone is willing to pay

Uh huh

The question is if that’s a function of a free market or a wink wink between the owners.

The same reason Colin Kaepernick is not on a roster. He’s asking for way more money than teams are willing to pay.

If he (or Kaepernick) bring their price down, they would be signed.

Quit being a bitch. Theres no collusion. These teams have finally gotten smart and quit giving old players ridiculous contracts.

His asking price was absurd at the outset of free agency and it’s hard to tell how much it really came down as the winter went on. Teams filled their holes elsewhere and don’t want to surrender an early pick in the draft in a month. I’m sure him and Kimbrel will sign deals right after the draft

Uh huh

MLB owners would NEVER collude, right?

Revenues continue to rise yet salaries have been dropping

How does the collusion thing work. JA Happ Patrick Corbin and Charlie Morton the owners are cool with but they hate Keuchel so they said “nobody can sign him”. Please explain

I imagine at this point him and Kimbrel are waiting until after the draft, so that don't have draft compensation attached to them.

Theres a difference between "theres no collusion" and the implication that they NEVER could collude. I'm telling you at current, there is no collusion. Don't be a bleeding heart for whiny arse Keuchel.

They tried blanket collusion in the 80’s and ended up having to pay a shitload back to the players after the fact.

You don’t think it’s interesting that Alex Rodriguez signed for $252 million in 2001 yet even though revenues have tripled since then the top end contracts have only gone up incrementally?

Then why are salaries dropping when revenues are rising? In a true free and competitive market that doesn’t happen.

No. The ARod contract hamstrung the Rangers from being able to put an adequate team around him.

There’s a problem that needs to be resolved regarding contracts in baseball I just don’t think you know enough to figure out. Let’s see if you can

This problem helps explain all your stats about salaries staying flat as well

Completely predictable at the time yet he was signed anyway. Do you think all 30 owners are interested in building competitive teams?

being patronizing is definitely the way to a productive conversation.

Mind boggling how so many sports fans will blindly defend management. Not just their teams’ but management in general.
