re: Why I hate LeBron James

quote:
Michael Jordan was a douche.
I keep hearing this, but no one has ever been able to explain why they have this sentiment. If it's because he calls out the coach who cut him back in the day, I really don't see how that makes him a douche. If anything, it's a call for those kids who do get cut or are told they aren't good enough to work harder to prove the critics wrong, which is exactly what Jordan did. Proved them wrong in high school, college, and at the professional level. He and his generation weren't handed anything, they earned everything they got.
That's why some people don't like LeBron. He really didn't earn anything. He was given Hummers and $100 million endorsements before he was even drafted. The NBA and the sports media (namely ESPN) basically branded this guy as the next GOAT and has done pretty much everything in their power to defend his image. They got so invested in needing him to succeed that they go to almost any lengths to defend him.
No basketball player has ever gotten that treatment before and none have really gotten it since. LeBron has never really had to work hard to prove himself. He's never really had to defend himself against overwhelming scrutiny like Michael did. Hell you can go up and down the Hall of Fame and find guys who were scrutinized left and right. They didn't act like children about it. They either ignored it and improved their games or they said they'd prove everyone wrong and did so.
I'll never understand why certain people feel they absolutely have to defend an athlete no matter what. It's by far at it's peak when it deals with LeBron. Some people just can't stand to see anyone say anything about him that isn't overwhelming positive. It's pathetic really. What do you gain by defending him online? Do you think he cares? Do you think it's going to give you street cred or some great reputation? I can understand if you are a 12 year old kid and LeBron is your hero. But grown arse men basically becoming e-knights for him? That's just a damn shame.
And before the LeBron supporters come all out and call me a hater, I'm not. I don't hate him by any means. Do I like him? No. Do I hate him? No. My feelings towards him are neutral. Anyways, time for me to go back to my regular life.

He stops every few feet to shoot a jump shot, his right hand extended above his head on the follow through. He weaves through a pack of a dozen friends and pretends to connect on a layup as he walks past a gift shop. He passes overhead casino signs and jumps up and slaps them, pretending to dunk. Columns covered with advertisements for lounge acts become stationary defenders, chumps to fake out before connecting on imaginary mid-range jump shots.
I do stuff like this sometimes, I'm just easily entertained

Not surprising that Gamecock believes the stupid MJ was cut from his HS team myth

Watch his Hall of Fame speech, and make sure to google his infidelity too.
It doesn't effect my life that MJ is a gigantic douchebag, but he still is one.

So he wasn't promoted to the varsity roster. Now you're just arguing semantics even though it only furthers my point.
Now don't you have to pretend to be the cool, detached guy with another 26,000 posts?

My intention was never to come across as "cool/detached". I obviously like to debate things on here. I just think it's overly emotional to type out a mini novella full of criticisms from an article that is several years old. And the post count knock doesn't make sense coming from you. Haven't you nearly hit 1K posts in a day on here in the past?

his infidelity too.
So you dislike him because he banged a woman/women who he wasn't married to? Please tell me you are aware of how petty that is.

I never said I disliked him. There are plenty of people that are douchebags that I have no ill will towards.

You didn't think it was a little bit of a dick move to call out Byron Russell, John Starks, etc? MJ is my favorite athlete, but he's an a-hole and always has been.

Meh I just don't see how Michael is a douche or could be viewed as a douche. Guys like Bernie Madoff and the WorldCom guys are douchebags to me. Wealthy athletes who get married without air tight prenups aren't douchebags to me.

quote:This is always the vibe I get from James and it is very unappealing. To me the difference between Jordan being an a-hole and Lebron being a dueche, is Jordan was an a-hole because he was the ultimate competitor, which I can respect.
The more you hang around James, the more you realize he's still a child wrapped in a 6-foot-8 250-pound frame.

Funny because that is why people hate Tiger Woods. Just because it is your boyhood idle, doesn't mean its not douchey.

we know he is a douche o well and he will stay being a douche im not gona lose any sleep over it
Again, if you listed the top 2 or 3 douchiest things you've ever done in your life, I guess we can say you'll always be a douche as well. And that goes for all of us.
Dude's getting ripped because he's drunk in Vegas fake dribbling in a casino. OH THE HORROR!!!!
In all of our worst drunken moments, I'm sure none of us have done anything remotely that douchey, right?

quote:Simply put, he wasn't a nice dude.
I keep hearing this, but no one has ever been able to explain why they have this sentiment
He was arrogant and pretty much an a-hole to everyone.
But that's ok because his name isn't Lebron.
quote:So you're admitting all these people have misplaced hate? I would agree to that, they're hating the wrong entity.
That's why some people don't like LeBron. He really didn't earn anything. He was given Hummers and $100 million endorsements before he was even drafted. quote:Maybe he hasn't "had to", but he most certainly has. Anyone who even thinks for one second that Lebron hasn't worked hard should just excuse themselves from any Lebron conversations due to overwhelming bias LOL.
LeBron has never really had to work hard to prove himself.
quote:Not 1/100th as pathetic as people who blindly hate on him for pretty much everything, and don't see ANY of the positives.
Some people just can't stand to see anyone say anything about him that isn't overwhelming positive. It's pathetic really

What do haters gain by bashing him online? Do you think he cares? Do you think it's going to give you street cred or some great reputation? I can understand if you are a 12 year old Lebron hater. But grown arse men basically hating on a guy for some pretty ridiculous reasons? That's just a damn shame.
See how easy that was?
quote:Simply judging your post, it's obvious you're not at all neutral. Reason being, there are far far far more Lebron hatred posts then there are positive posts. Maybe I've missed it, but I haven't see the 5 paragraph, long arse post from you ripping on the hater guys. Nope, you only rip the guys who are on Lebron's side.
And before the LeBron supporters come all out and call me a hater, I'm not. I don't hate him by any means. Do I like him? No. Do I hate him? No. My feelings towards him are neutral. Anyways, time for me to go back to my regular life

And yet I haven't seen you once say anything to the guys who are disliking Lebron for fake dribbling through a casino.
But yea yea, you're totally neutral. No doubt.

Also, LeBron is somewhat of a victim of the era. His every action, thought and word is analyzed and analyzed again and again.
He tweets about a dunk?
Atrocity!
Holds a TV show to make his FA decision?
Scum of the Earth!
Misses a game winner?
SOOOOOO not clutch!
Makes a game winner?
LUCKY frick!
Misses a free throw?
Needs to work on his game!
Racks up a triple double, carries his team through a playoff series only to lose in the Finals?
CHOKER!
The level of LeBron's public "sins" is laughably minute.
He's never been arrested, done drugs (of note), or really hurt anyone/anything more than a few people's sensibilities about how a superstar should act.
Babe Ruth went all Ron Artest on fans... multiple times. He held out, publicly insulted his team, teammates, managers. He got fat and out of shape. He broke rule after rule after rule. And he's an American Hero!
Wears Sunglasses to club?
Minnesota Tiger refuses to deal with it.
