Why don’t you ever see pitchers wearing jackets on the base paths anymore?

When I was a kid (I’m 37) I remember tons of games with the pitcher wearing a jacket on the bases.

Is that against the rules now?

Mad Bum is the only pitcher who hits and he don't need no pansy arse jacket.
If you question him he'll whoop yo arse and talk while it happens.

Pitchers wearing jackets is as old as the game itself. Pat Courtney, a spokesman for Major League Baseball, said it goes back more than 50 years and is in the official Umpire's Manual. "A pitcher may wear a jacket while a base runner. A pitcher may not wear a jacket while batting," the manual states. "No other player is permitted to wear a jacket while a base runner, a batter, a defensive player, or a coach on the baselines. If worn, the jacket must be buttoned."

I have seen it once this year so it's not against the rules. As somebody mentioned earlier the fiber technology has improved immensely over the last 2 decades.

Oddly enough if you are playing MLB the Show 19, they wear them in the road to show mode. I know that is randomly af, but it caught my eye and made me think the same.
