Boosters have too much control and the AD is weak

Hiring shitty coaches is their first problem

Tom Herman really wasn't that bad but Charlie Strong and Sark are horrible.

Next are the boosters

Next is the school's culture

It's crazy how good and consistent Oklahoma is compared to Texas.

Tom Herman seemed like such a home run hire. I guess the boosters really are as bad as you hear about.

Two coaches in 20+ years be like that. Plus it's easier to step into Bob Stoops' ready to roll program vs what has been handed to new Texas coaches in recent years.

Which, to be fair, is a result of

I think a large reason for that is that OU had to compete against Nebraska for decades in the old Big 8. They couldn't afford to get complacent. Whereas Texas ruled the SWC with an iron fist and got lazy.

To be fair, it's hasn't been this hard in a long time.

Forget being premiere, how are they not winning 9-10 games every year? OU is the only B12 team that can touch them in talent.

I’m aggy so take my statement with a grain of salt, but it’s 30% boosters and 30% softness/entitlement.

I give the other 40% to their recruiting failures. It’s been pretty blatant for years when people would sign with Texas, they were giving people extra stars, so they thought they we’re getting 5* athletes when they were getting legit 3.5*s.

How many QBs and RBs has Texas thought would be the next Vince/Colt or Jamal/Ricky that you never heard about outside of maybe one or two games.

Coaching hires aren’t that bad. Sark is the most questionable, but Strong and Herman weren’t.

Boosters wanting to have too much of a say is what fired a great coach in Mac Brown and they’ve been wandering in the desert ever since.

Biased aggyness [on] off

As to softness/entitlement, the whole we’re Texas thing is going to make the SEC enjoy them for years. Texas fans legitimately believe they should always be the top team in Texas and every other Texas team that beats them is little brother. I have plenty of Baylor, Tech or OU fans that I can give grief to and get grief from about the outcome of games Sunday morning and still be friends with. I don’t even want to talk to a Texas fan if A&M beats Bama and they lose to OU in the same day because it will still be condescending.

Also, the video of the player trying to get the coach called out for cussing them out for cutting up after losing their first of 4 in a row and thinking that would make the coach look bad instead of the players is a perfect microcosm of the state of their program.

Biased aggyness on [off]

Can anyone actually site specific examples of booster and culture issues? That’s been repeated on this board hundred of times over the years but I’ve never seen an example provided so I’m curious how every other poster here just knows that’s the specific issue? Feels like one of those deals people have “heard” which actually means they just read it here.

They have a coach who’s stripper wife has a monkey. If that doesn’t sum it up, don’t know what will…

Hey man, did you go to the UH/Memphis game last night? Got to see Jenkins in all his glory when they brought out the 90 team again. His "hair" is long and straight and blond now.
