Local and national media don't give a shiat about them
Decades of recruiting...ahem...disadvantages to a certain school across the state
Less now than before, but actual expectation of kids being "students"
They play in the ACC, where "stink" is pretty good
The stadium sucks
Mostly Asian and Indian chicks, and the nerdy type not the hot type
History of highly specialized offensive needs
No celebrities on the sidelines
They actually visited the campus and saw it's in Atlanta, with homeless people on every corner and gunshots 1 street over every night, and momma said frick no

Ga Tech can be a decent team, they just need to find the right "fit" for a HC.
1. While GT is nationally and internationally well known, it has almost zero presence in the State outside the Perimeter. In other words, GT has ZERO sidewalk fans.
2. GT's alums don't necessary work in the area or State ant thus, are unable to attend games, etc. My son is a graduate and works in Tucson. None of his engineer friends in school remained in the area after graduation.
3. Academic requirements are real.
4. GT is swallowed up and drowned out by UGA and the ATL sports teams.
Having said all that, the advantages of being located in the epicenter of college football will see GT return to at least respectability.

PS. I think the right coach for GT would be Bronco Mendenhall. He burned out at UVA and needed to spend time with family. Once rested and ready to return, GT should go after him.
He doesn't seek nor require the spotlight so he would be comfortable working in the shadow of Kirby. Bronco's style is to recruit under the radar kids and develop the heck out of them. He was very successful at this at BYU and UVA.

Why does Georgia Tech stink?
Same reason Vandy does.
They emphasize goals that are actually important like getting a good education, not some bullshite sport.
The primary goal of higher education shouldn't be sports.

1. They have real academic standards
2. You have to take calculus
Nah, that's a copout.
They won a title in 1990. They won the ACC in 2012 and 2014. They went to the orange bowl a couple of times. Did they waive calculus and other academic requirements so they could win football games? Of course not. And it's not like their team was filled entirely with brainiacs.
Like a lot of Georgia fans, I hated the last game of the regular season when PJ was there. The triple option was dangerous, and they were good at it. Had he stuck around he probably could've used some of that NIL money to showcase another good season or two.
In a weird way, I miss PJ as the Tech coach because he kept the rivalry flame stoked. The rivalry totally sucks now, and that's a damn shame.

Never been to ATL. I’m sure It is similar to Chicago in the sense that nobody there cares about the local college programs
Wtf? College football is king in this state. There are tons of UGA fans and plenty of GSU, Ga St, and KSU fans to go around in these parts. In short, Atlanta is nothing like Chicago when it comes to college football.

Every tech fan was duped (including myself) with the hiring of Geoff Collins

I think there were some guys who thought the culture schtick was annoying.

1. GTs facilities are bottom level.
2. Outside of USC no college teams seem to do well in major cities.
3. The athletic department as a whe seems apathetic about any of the sports.

I fully believe that if The Hill (Tech's admin) were given a choice to either go fully all-in or get rid of football, they would choose the latter.

Chicago is a massive melting pot with alumni from all over the country. You literally can find 50+ bars that support a specific school. My point is that schools like DePaul and or Loyola don’t mean shite. Similar id assume to people from ATL not really caring about Georgia Tech. Obviously Atlanta will care deeply about UGA

If and when ever starts winning again.. ATL will be a huge fan base
I know many UGA fans who live in Atlanta and if Tech were to ever start winning again and somehow was in the playoff, UGA fans would root for Tech to win because Tech is Atlanta

Either you made this up, or the people you're referencing aren't actual uga fans. They are "city of Atlanta" fans that also happen to cheer for uga sometimes.

i got downvoted to hell on here last time I asked if GT/UGA series should still be cancelled.
the most valid argument I got was, why cancel an in state rival?
What am I missing?

If they hire Deon from JSU / They would be a regular ACC contender in 2-4 years
I’ve heard GT is curious - we will see …

They seemed to do pretty well with the triple option but then decided to go far away from that and now haven't won more than 3 games in years.
It wasn't sexy and certainly wasn't going to win them a ship, but they were pretty competitive against SEC teams under PJ.
