He’s so disrespected, he just signed an NBC contract to take Chis Collinsworth’s place 2 years before he actually does it.

Playing in a dome inflates his numbers. Not to mention he chokes more often than not when the games on the line.

I’m guessing SB XLIV was included in the 2000-09 decade.

With all those records, you'd think that he'd be a multi-time Super Bowl winner. Numbers don't mean much without championships to back them up.

sadly, most of the people who get on TV and talk about football for a living probably use this same arse-backwards logic, so there's your answer

Also: unpopular opinion, but I can't think of a season where Drew was truly robbed of the MVP. He wasn't beating Rodgers in 2011 or Manning in 2009. He was guilty of bad timing more than anything else.

Brees has the edge over Rodgers in total career stats but he has also started and played about 100 more games than Rodgers. In terms of averaged stats Rodgers has Brees beat in most categories (including winning percentage).

What?

He’s lead the NFL is Passing Yards 7 Times
TDs 4 Times Completion% 6 Times, QB Rating Twice. Completions 6 times (whole only leading in attempts 4 times)

In 09 he lead in completion % TDs QBR and was like a few hundred back of passing yards while playing 15 games

In 11 lead in Completions, Completion Percentage, TDs and Yards.

just look at Fran Tarkenton & Dan Fouts. Great stats, zero Super Bowl championships, and they're remembered accordingly.

as a big John Elway fan I cannot fathom how you rank Elway ahead of Brees. Elway couldn't carry Brees jock.

Not making the NFL 100 group was a monumental slap in the face. No way to argue against it.

No, I would have put him on there but that's some ridiculously elite company

if you want to complain about him not making the All-2010's team though I'll agree that was a snub

Brees is sort of like the Hank Aaron of NFL QBs. He'll retire with a bunch of major career statistical records but never had an out of the world superlative season or peak like Rodgers, Brady, and Manning had.

Got beat out by Phillip Rivers in San Diego and blew up after the NFL rules changes to the defenses and when he went to NOLA in a wide open offense. He would not have put up the numbers pre-2000 and especially before 1994 when the NFL first changed the rules for defenses. Once upon a time dbs could actually touch WRs and dlinemen could touch the QBs.

Football was played before 2000!

Brees had better stats than Manning in just about every category and played in one less game, he also set the all time record for completion percentage

He really isn't. He plays for a small market team that the big networks are annoyed having to talk about.

Other than that, 99% of the posts bashing him on here are trolls by Falcons/Cowboys/Texans fans but the average Louisiana native is an idiot who will hurl himself onto any hook

1) Lives in a Small market and doesn't get the benefit of being in a city that national media has a hard on for

2) Not the "icon" that Brady/Rodgers is because he's a family man with no baggage/scandals. Brady had deflategate, spygate; Rodgers is just a fricking bizarre weirdo and the fascination with him is beyond me. Dude gets the benefit from media b/c he succeeded Favre and plays for GB but Drew would take that dude for a walk

3) Doesn't have the physical stature and makeup of the prototypical successful QB

4) Not loud, flashy, and arrogant so he doesn't get deep throated by national media

5) Makes no mention of having "that bop," being "that dude" or having "that ice"

Drew is an all time great and the undisputable fact of the matter is that he really should have 3-4 Super Bowls and this would change the entire argument.

There isn’t a single viable argument to rate Dan Marino ahead of Drew Brees, not one. The only thing Marino has on Brees is his “arm talent”, which is a load of shite.

This is why I will never care who wins this award. The fact that Brees hasn't won it at least once, tells me how big of a sham it is

Brees vs. Peyton Manning 2009:

Brees- 70.6% 4,388 yards 34 TD 11 INT 109.6 rating
Manning- 68.8% 4,500 yards 33 TD 16 INT 99.9 rating

Saints went 13-3, Colts 14-2. Brees didn’t play week 17 because the Saints has homefield clinched.

Peyton Manning was the runaway winner with 40/50 first place votes.
