This

He basically pulled a classic bait and switch by signing those guys the offseason before that boomdoggle of a stadium opened them trading them all away halfway through the season

Correct, also have to factor in what type of owners are in these "markets".

Out of the Big 3 I know the least about the MLB, but its the most fascinating.

LINK

This link is the most generally accepted standard for measuring metropolitan areas with the US Census Bureau. This group can also expand to what's called a combined statistical area, which is a larger region than these Metropolitan statistical areas listed above.

They don't have a plan. They'll spend on the wrong free agents just for the sake of spending, then it blows up and they sit out the next few years.

2 things about the Marlin franchise-

1) They've never lost a post season series.

2) Who goes to a Marlin game?

I just took a family vacation to New England. Damn sure I went to Fenway.
How many LSU fans that got tickets to Lambeau, checked to see if the Cubs &/or Brewers were in town?
Nobody ever says, I hope the Marlins in town?

Loria ia an absolute POS but he did give Stanton the biggest contract in baseball history. They have historically preferred to go with younger players within the organization and force them into arbitration until they become unrestricted FAs.

Stanton hit 4 HRs in 24 hours last week against the Mets. He has hit 3 of the 4 longest HRs ever at Citifield. You don't think there was a single person in New York that wanted to see him play?

They don't do well with attendance and my brother explained the reason.

Miami is full of new people. Their grand parents are not from Miami. So grandpa tells his kid in Chicago about the times he went to the Cubs game and watched Ernie Banks. That doesn't happen in Miami.

Buerhle, Buck, Salty, Reyes, bell, Chen, Garrett jones, furcal. We're not even including the trades for Latos and Morse.

Ichiro is their only decent FAS in recent memory and fortunately the Angels were willing to give Pujols a no trade clause, otherwise we'd be stuck with his aging corpse instead of them.

Don't be blinded by the jazz hands and sparklers. The first 3 years are for $30 million and then the contracts balloons. This is business as usual for that snake. Stanton will be gone by the time it escalates.

The owner wants to turn a profit. He doesn't really care about winning. In USA sports, profit and winning are not inter-connected. BTW, I have no problem with This. It's his team.

Also, no relegation. (Like in the European soccer clubs)

Marlins were plagued for years by weather and shitty ownership. Nobody wanted to go a) sit in a football stadium to watch a baseball game b) in 100 degree heat IF it doesn't rain, which it did often because Florida.

If the team was winning consistently that would have helped, but you all know the story.

We beat BYU's arse bloody in the Marlins' stadium in our 2014 bowl game.

All I care about.
