Because the SEC enjoys hating on the Big Ten, who view themselves as equal athletically while maintaining moral and intellectual superiority. And Ohio State has been the only consistently great B10 program during the SEC’s reign of terror during the 21st century. So they get the most focused hate.

MSB just hates northern teams in general — Ohio State, Notre Dame, Penn State, Michigan, all of them. You don’t have to look far to find them called frauds or soft or lucky or whatever. Just kinda the vibe here.

I think you’re onto something. I think a “Civil War” mentality certainly exists down South. I can see it manifested in sports. But in 2024, I don’t think media bias exists in college. The SEC had its dick sucked constantly during the last two decades.

Penn State has contributed nothing in the BCS+era to the B1G. Those older years is exactly what i’m talking about with sport writers favoring. Look back, look at how many “northern/west coast” teams are consensus campions while most southern teams are split, they even did it again in 03’ and denied auburn in 04’. Kirk only sides with the SEC because ESPN owns the SEC, if he didn’t work for ESPN, he wouldn’t be such an advocate. And when I say sport writers, I’m referring old guard like the AP, not anyone associated with SEC-ESPN era, I’ll admit, those guys are pro SEC like Fox is pro B1G

I don’t dislike Ohio State. They remind me of a northern Bama, the football program not the school. I hope Notre Dame gets a 2012 beatdown again though, but not because of Ohio State. I do not like Notre Dame, because well, I’m a Bama fan and we can’t like Notre Dame. Just how it is.

USC should be played LSU in 2003. Then when LSU won, it wouldn’t have been split.
The only thing Auburn was denied of was an arse beating. Nobody was beating SC that night.

Ohio State has one of the largest fan bases in the country and is bound to have lots of terrible nuts. As an alum, I tend to think that people who went to the university are a better representation of the university and fandom than your average streetwalker fan. I tend to hate that faction because they are irrational in their expectations, cool poopers and losers. Shocking take but some of us who have deeper connections to the school hate our fans.
