Why not wear something more comfortable?

Why do baseball managers wear the uniform? I don't know but I don't want to change it!

Because they're professionals and that's what professionals wear when giving presentations usually.

Because you can't cross the baselines without a uniform on and therefore can't go to the mound to remove the pitcher if you're not wearing the uniform.

What?
Trainers and Connie Mack never wear uniforms
It's tradition and managers used to always be player/managers.

Rule 1:11(a) (1) -- says: "All players on a team shall wear uniforms identical in color, trim and style, and all players uniforms shall include minimal six-inch numbers on their backs." Nothing about what a manager must wear.
"The person who did that was called the captain. He did what a manager does today, but he also played. So at first, the person we would today call a manager wore a uniform because he was a participant in the game."
"The person who was called the manager of a team was the business manager -- he was the person who made sure that the receipts were paid and that the train schedules were met. He didn't make any decisions about what went on during a game.
The manager is considered an active participant in the game...and thus must wear a uniform.
I know what Connie Mack did - but IDK, show me pictures of him going to the mound.

I don't think I ever saw Bobby Knight in a suit.

That rule is for players when the ball is in play. Not person not in lineup therefore they are not active.
People like to use it for the reason but it is not reason.

Well, some people are making up for the lack of class elsewhere.

I think they should make the coaches wear uniforms like baseball

Basketball coaches wearing suits is way better than managers in baseball wearing uniforms. Way better.

in the early days of basketball many of the coaches were jewish and they needed the extra pockets to hide the money from the negro athletes
