why anyone ever would think deion can coach is the real question. just because he played the games doesnt mean he can be a head coach. he might be ok as a position coach at positions he played maybe, but not a HC.

Let's say the royal you is a parent, and you have a kid participating in a competition with judges. Your kid gets eliminated early on and has to watch the winners get chosen with everyone else. Afterwards, you want to lift your kid's spirits, so you say something supportive, and you say the judges should be ashamed they didn't recognize how good he was. That's all this is. Deion tweeted something supportive about players he has been around the past few years. Typical bias/favoritism. It doesn't need to become news or some kind of racial controversy.

Because it keeps his name in the news and makes it look like he gives a shite about HBCUs but he really doesn't. If he did he wouldn't have chased more money that he doesn't need to stay there and build something.

That's not true. There's still roster space to fill, but as of now, the number of transfers from an HBCU (JSU) are over double the number from FSU.

Deion is from Florida, so of course he's going to get Florida guys. I'm sure they'll set records for numbers of transfers from an HBCU and Florida guys on a Colorado roster.

The problem I have with this rationalization is that if want to lift your kid's spirits, you say you're proud of their effort, and that they can be on that podium accepting awards, if they keep working at it. You don't bash the judges, especially publicly, unless you have some real good evidence to suggest they did something wrong, and did so deliberately.

Because that is what Deion appears to have done here. He's saying he's ashamed of the NFL, as if they purposefully passed on these kids for any reason other than lack of NFL talent. I don't buy that he said that to show support. And even if he did, you know what kind of message it sends. Using race to make a point to show support, is not any better than any other kind of race baiting, in my opinion.

What exactly is meant by implode?

Are you expecting some kind of internal issue? Hoping for bad results?

We're talking about a program coming off a 1-11 season, averaging 4.4 wins and 7.3 losses over the past 10 years.

As far as the hypothetical analogy, I'm not saying that's the best way to lift someone up, but some people do that. If you want to believe this is some kind of racial thing, go ahead. Deion knows the score in terms of the draft process. I get the angle from the guys who make it all about race, with no real analysis of the program.

I'm not merely choosing to look at it that way. If you're looking to lift someone up, there are plenty of good ways to do it. When you whine and make excuses, that's not just not a good way to do it, it's really not lifting anyone up at all. It's just whining and making excuses.

And you're right that he knows the score with the draft process. That's what I said earlier. He knows better than to believe that HBCU players are being passed up because of some kind of bias, but by pretending that there is some kind of bias, and calling out the mythical bias, he can appear virtuous. It's all about his image. Everything about the way he carries himself publicly lends itself to the conclusions that people like myself are coming to.

Making a point that seems obvious to many, except you, is whining? Nice comeback.

About as "obvious" as the many upvotes on the point of Deion building the roster more from FSU than HBCUs.
You'll find a lot of agreement here on this board for your viewpoint. That doesn't make it any less dumb, or you less of a whiner.

You think I'm referring to upvotes? No, I'm talking about anyone who heard what he said. You won't find many that come to your conclusion of "lifting people up", because it's a bunk argument.

At no point have I "whined" about anything. I've given my opinion, and backed my points with actual logic. You're making excuses to justify excuses, and have now begun to use ad hominem, which is the first sign that a person is lacking in reason.

It’s clearly the talent gap and Deion recognized the same thing which is why he left and did not really recruit from HBCU’s for his team at CU. Why throw shade at the NFL for doing the same thing he has done.

Deion is like Paul Finebaum, Colin Cowherd, etc. He doesn’t care if what he says is wrong, so long as it benefits him.

His quote is just hyping HBCUs because it makes it sound like he accomplished more at Jackson State than he did.

No, I didn't think you were referring to upvotes. I said your "obvious point" about was about as obvious as the point about building the roster more with players from FSU than HBCUs. It's a comparison. I'm saying it's actually not obvious, even though you have found agreement on a board full of negativity about Deion. You may find some comfort in that, but bad opinions on a demographic bubble of a board doesn't mean much at all to me.
I can't say dumb opinions are dumb without you getting offended? Damn, whine more, octopus.
