upgrades" to the "premium seating" areas.

Funny how so many “quality of life” improvements actually hurt the common fan. I cringe seeing the empty arse VIP section at every Falcons games. Smack in the middle of the 50 yard line too

Alabama almost took out thousands of cheap seats to build this corporate monstrosity

Didn’t they get a new arena after they left the Alamo Dome? Wtf arenas should last way longer than 20 years now days before a new one is warranted.

The Spurs want to move downtown. The current arena is in a tarded location.

Simply put, because the cities usually cave in

They partnered with the county to build it, and it’s a big part of the SA rodeo. That’s why it was built on the east side near the old Freeman Coliseum.

Again, folks with foresight could see that this had a downside.

Everyone except the taxpayers gets a slice of the pie. It is money better spent elsewhere.

How Dewine did not laugh at Haslam when he asked the governor to help finance his stadium is a mystery. $600 million to keep the Cleveland Browns?
He should have paid them to leave.

Limited number of franchises.

Why don’t they make more franchises?

They already have a problem with players only wanting to play in NY, LA, and Miami, maybe San Fran and Vegas. Adding franchises elsewhere doesn’t improve the odds in other locales.

well that’s false… lots of places have one or two but not all four sports.

The major markets have 4+ teams in them. Mid and Smaller markets do not have the population to support another team. If you were the Spurs, comfortably sitting in the 7 most populated metro areas in the USA, what city would you try to make a play at? Austin, Montreal, Louisville?

Basically both teams said "frick you taxpayer, give us a blank check based on zero details or benefits to the average fan, otherwise we'll move 7 miles west"
not a bad deal if you are KCM, no? Basically , Keep the team, someone else picks up the tab . It’s not like the Chiefs are threatening to move to San Diego

I’m not really a Clippers fan, but that owner done it the way it should be done. He wanted a new arena- HE paid for it.
