both were available in the same draft, should Young and kyler murray both get passed over for the same reasons?

Kyler was also a first round pick of the A’s in the MLB. He was an elite athletic prospect based on his running ability and his arm.

Josh Allen’s college QB rating was 137. Richardson a was 133.

That’s why Richardson was drafted high because the Colts wanted the next Josh Allen.

There’s no science to QB drafting, no matter how holistic you want to get

Saw this really good post on Reddit that puts Allen's early struggles into perspective and why it's dumb to compare any college QB with underwhelming stats to him. Basically, Allen came from a small backwater California town, went to JUCO for a year before going to Wyoming. He never received adequate coaching until he went to the NFL. Compare that to AR who went to a top level SEC program in Florida, played with NFL talent, and had Dan Mullen as his HC for two seasons who is a well-regarded offensive mind known for developing QBs.

How many of you bashing scouts said Bo Nix would be good? Let’s see the receipts, cause I’m pretty sure most on the boards were mocking that pick.

Too many of them don’t watch the college game. They look at what Mel Kiper thinks and build those opinions up instead of critically thinking about it.

I want to know how to get in on being an NFL scout. It’s ok to be wrong most of the time and it can lead to greater jobs down the road that pay big-time bank.

It pays less than $50k a year and most of them never make it up the ladder.

I was high on, and posted about Mahomes on the LSU 247Sports board before his senior year at Whitehouse. He looked great at safety too. I wanted the LSU coaches to push him to camp. I still thought he would be good in the NFL when he had a 370 yards and four TD's passing vs. LSU in the 2015 Texas Bowl. They only averaged 6.6 yards per pass, but that was way better than the one yard rushing average they had as a team. He was the only thing they had, and he threw four TD passes..

Gabe Brooks, who rates some of the kids for 247Sports was covering recruiting for an East Texas newspaper back then. I started keeping up with Mahomes because I thought Gabe knew what he was talking about. It wouldn't surprise me a bit to find out Shannon Terry hired Gabe partially because of his evaluation of Mahomes.

Anthony Richardson is the best recent example. The dude sucked in college and was very inconsistent. However, the Indianapolis Colts selected him with their 1st round draft choice solely based on his potential because of his physical characteristics.

Unsurprisingly, he sucks in the NFL and gets benched halfway through his 2nd season. It’s as if everyone knew this guy would suck except for NFL scouts.

you don't take a guy a player that high because your scouts say so.

That pick is on the organization when it is a first rounder that high especially at QB.

then it's on the coach to call a game that is best catered to his skill set?

of course, the Colts defense isn't anything special, so the Colts are playing from behind most of the time.
