re: Why are baseball managers the only ones who wear uniforms and other sport coaches don’t?

It’s literally a rule that nobody who isn’t an umpire is allowed on the field of play during the course of game if they aren’t wearing a uniform. Connie Mack wore suits when he was managing the A’s and he had to stay in the dugout and have a coach go out onto the field to make pitching changes.

Most managers wear the short sleeve warmup pullovers instead of an actual jersey in the summer. Dusty Baker wears a jersey but occasionally he goes the pullover route. The ones who wear jerseys are greatly outnumbered by the pullover crowd.
Trainers don’t wear uniforms when they go check on an injured baseball players during a game. They’re usually in polos and slacks.

I haven't found that to be the case, but I watch almost exclusively Braves games. Snit always has the jersey on and it seems like most opposing coaches do as well. I've been wrong before though

Hasn't been said yet, but the sheer volume of games is probably a factor too. Trying to keep a supply of freshly laundered suits on a 4 city road trip on the opposite coast isn't feasible. Throwing your uniform in with everyone else's is pretty easy

That’s going the way of the dodo.
I think David Stern's 2005 dress code, for the players, has a lot to do with the phenomena of NBA coaches dressing more casually now. The dress code didn't work because the players just paid fines for not following it. Some players said it was racist because it didn't allow Hip Hop culture's fashion of jerseys, jeans, hats, do-rags, T-shirts, large jewelry, sneakers and timberland boots
It pretty much went away when Donald Sterling took over. The BLM movement gave the players an excuse to wear tee shirts supporting race martyrs.
Most of the coaches are ex-players, so they are comfortable dressed down. In these 'Appearance is more important than reality" days we live in, it shows they aren't bowing down to the man.

not the 1st and 3rd base coaches
Not between the lines… they shouldn’t have to wear uniforms either

Would be really weird to see Gregg Popopich coaching while in a tank top and shorts. Would Bill Bellichick wear shoulder pads under his jersey while he coaches? Helmet?

That would be funny to see a football or hoops coach in game in full uniform. Would they be allowed to if they wanted to? Is there some rule against it?

Because they might have to go in there and show some young punk how it’s done.

Bill Belichick would look ridiculous.
And I would pay to see it.
