Someone who's career was mostly spent holding a clipboard, but they held down the fort every time their number was called..

Steve Young

I was going to say Frank Reich, but I’ll go with Jeff Hostetler for his run with the Giants.

Matt Flynn

Steve Young was a solid backup.
Vince Evans was around a LONG time.

I jest but Clint Longley for one pass. Afterwards a Cowboys player called it "the triumph of an uncluttered mind", lol.

Earl Morrall led two different teams to the Super Bowl.
He took over for an injured Johnny Unitas in 1968 for the Colts. He was also named the league MVP. He was in his mid-30’s and had bounced around the NFL before he landed in Baltimore.
A few years later Bob Griese gets injured, and Morrall plays most of the season. The 1972 UNDEFEATED DOLPHINS 14-0.
