Knicks were one of the most incompetent orgs in all of sports.

The Knicks have never even been in the same stratosphere as the Lakers. They have a whopping grand total of 2 NBA championships, both from the 70's. Not a valid comparison

The difference is the spurs knocked out multiple championships. OKC is still very young but unless Lebron and co have serious injuries, OKC may never win 1. Just the nature of the game.

Obviously the Lakers with the FA draw, but I wouldn't trade the Pelicans' roster/cap/draft situation for theirs.

I don't think it changes the fact that they're one of the best run orgs in the league. They're going to be good for a very long time.

Well yes but unfortunately "good" doesn't really mean anything unless you have championships to show for it. My point is that the Spurs went on an incredible run, I'm not sure i would lump OKC into the same stratosphere as the Spurs.

The point of the post was to illustrate that it's rare that teams actually build almost entirely through the draft. The only teams that have done so 1) won the lottery when a rare talent was available and 2) became an elite team by building around that player through the draft. No. 2 is almost as improbable as No. 1, which is why it takes a great organization to make it happen.

Anyone who says the Lakers is a delusional homer. The Lakers will have things work out for them just like they do every time their future is unsure - don't be surprised if Kobe's retirement happens at the same time as LBJ's Decision II that ends with him in LA. The league can't afford to have LA be shitty.

They don't get anything like the same ratings as the Lakers. Comparing a couple seasons of interesting to decades of dominance is comparing the Mets to the Yankees.

They have always been able to attract stars. Look at their history.

God forbid they have a rebuilding year or two in the meantime.

Didn't they just so happen to trade their draft pick to PHX the one year they will have a decent pick?

i know the history...

what we don't know is can the Lakers attract stars if Howard is running the show? money will be tied up in him. Dr. Buss's son is a well known flake. then you have Kobe going off on twitter even when he's hurt. David Stern likes it, but do his teammates?

i've always wanted to see a truly putrid, like 15-67 Laker team in my lifetime. just one.

i remember when that was the Heat with Wade and Shaq after their title

LINK

the more you spend, the harder you fail and right now, L.A. is a fail

Lakers are pretty tied up contract wise.

Nash is the only player who is currently on the books for the 2014-2015 season. So next year could be another mediocre year, but after that they will have a chance to reload the team with or without Dwight.
