Still better than Davis + Gordon + Vasquez

Striking out on Gordon hurts, btw. They needed to get something for Paul. Lots of money tied up in a soft, injury prone player.

well it could be potentially be hurt Kobe, no Howard, and no Nash

plus old MWP and old Gasol

i'll take the Pels 8 out of 10 times against that

Maybe if it were the Bobcats. Not the Lakers.

How often do lottery picks pan out?

All the time. That's why teams like the Raptors are always so good with all the lottery picks they get

I love the misconception that the lottery is totes the place to be. It's worked out really well for the Raptors, as you mentioned, Wizards, Bobcats, Clippers for 30 years, etc. You have to be able to attract FAs these days. The Spurs and Thunder are the exceptions, the best franchises in the league.

well yeah you don't want to be in the lottery, but you also don't want to be the 7th seed getting swept uncompetitively

and then the Lakers face the luxury tax for another team like this one...

Even if you don't have a chance to attract a FA and improve, it's still better than constantly sucking.

The Lakers. They're one of the most successful franchises in any sport. They might have a brief slump for several seasons, but they'll be back at the top eventually, just like they've always been.

Great players will always want to sign with the Lakers and the Lakers will pay for them so.....the Lakers will ALWAYS be the answer.

They both started with a lottery ticket (Duncan and Durant) and built around them through the draft.
