My biggest issue with Ryan is that no one on earth would ever even argue that Ryan is the best player on his team. He isn't. Not even CLOSE. So how do you give a guy the MVP when he isn't even the best player on his team?

Because best =/= valuable. If Matt Ryan missed the same amount of games as Julio they don't have a chance to win any. Because Ryan is more valuable to that team even though Julio is better

MVP has never been a literal award for "most valuable"

If that was the case Then the MVP would go to whatever QB got hurt that season

Julio is a great player and the extra attention he gets is important to that offense but both this and last year he's not shown he can lead the team to wins alone by his big games.

A lot of his big games this season have equated to a Falcons loss. He had a huge season last year and the team went 8-8.

He's the best talent but is not the most valuable player of the offense. Your best bet against the Falcons offense is to go against logic with Julio and just put your best corner on him and force him to beat you alone. History's shown that while he can at times he doesn't do it consistently enough to really be afraid of doing it.

Like he can have a 300 yard receiving game in a win, and then whirl and have a 110ish yard receiving game a few games later but have a very very bad drop that leads to a key INT and loss.

Actually, best = most valuable. The player who provides the most value to their team is the best.

Therefore, it should be the QB who has the best season, which is clearly Matt Ryan. Fair or not, a QB is by far the most important position and the most valuable.

I would be fine with Brady, Rodgers, Ryan, or Carr.

I don't think it should be Elliot, which may or may not be a popular opinion.

Nah man aldrick Robinson, Taylor Gabriel, and Justin hardy are elite NFL wideouts

I mean Freeman is really good and Coleman is a poor man's David Johnson. Julio is a top 5 player in the league regardless of position. Atlanta has plenty of weapons.

You mention Gabriel in jest but the dude can flat out fly, pure speed demands attention

Ryan

Numbers are there, and Falcons are watching the playoffs from home if he got injured.

If we're truly defining MVP as the player who made the biggest W/L difference, Prescott and Zeke are taking basically the same roster that went 4-12 last year without Romo to possibly 14-2 this year.

yes I know Gabriel can fly, he has turned into one of my favorite Falcons to watch play but let's not act like he is a top 40 receiver in the league.

Sure Julio and Sanu are a damn fine duo but the 9 other players (obviously not including Coleman and Freeman) that have caught touchdowns this year make up a who's who list of essentially nobody's and also-rans. Matt Ryan has made them look much better than they are, and I'm one of if not the biggest Matt Ryan detractor out of the Falcons fans on this site.

The biggest impact players this year(but not in the glamour position like Ryan ) for the Falcons have been Alex Mack and Ryan Schraeder. Our offensive line as a whole has been so much better than the past few years and this might just be the best line Matt has played behind. An all pro center is exactly what all the young guys on our line needed to steady the ship and get them all headed in the right direction.
