According to current D1 Baseball Scores. Isn't this conference tournament time? And what the hell is Dixie State University? Just looked it up and it's in St. George, Utah. Weird.

Pac 12 doesn't have a conference tournament, and Arizona has already played their 30 game Pac 12 schedule. They only have 11 schools for baseball and play a round robin conference schedule

It's formerly a JUCO that is now a 4 year school that has gradually progressed to the D1 level.
Former Cardinals pitcher and current broadcaster Brad Thompson pitched there when it was a JUCO.

The university relocated from Mississipi to Utah and kept the name Dixie State, similar to how the Utah kept the nickname Jazz or LA kept the Lakers.

It is a university in Utah that probably won't be called Dixie State in 10 years.

I think a bunch of southerners moved there in the mid 19th century and started farming.
It looks like the university started adopting Confederate symbols in the 1950s.

Pac 12 isnt having a conference tournament
I don’t know what’s sadder. The fact the Pac 12 is such a political mess they cancelled their baseball tournament, or the WAC has sunk to such lows that Dixie State is now a member of that conference.

They voted unanimously to drop "Dixie" from their name last year. I guess it just hasn't happened yet.

Dixie State I believe is in the new WAC for athletics.

The Pac 12 has never had a conference championship. There are 11 teams since Colorado does not have a team. Each team plays 30 games and then they have their champion. There are other conferences that do not have tournaments as well.
The reason Arizona is playing Dixie State is that there is always an odd team out with 11 conference members for baseball, and the last week is their off week. Instead of playing no one, they scheduled a series with Dixie State, who I believe is not eligible for their conference tournament yet.

The Mormons in SLC wanted to set up churches in Southern Utah. The people they sent south they called the Men from Dixie. That is why Dixie is used to name quite a few things in Southern Utah.
