I’ve met several through the years. A couple that stand out:
Jerome Bettis - we were in the Bahamas on our guys trip. I’m walking through the casino and I recognize the Bus waliking towards me. I didn’t say anything, but he knew I knew who he was and he smiled and stuck out his hand. My buddy is a huge Steelers fan and was excited when Jerome ended up at the table with us. Another buddy on the trip ended up doing some work for him and we all ended up with autographed Steeler helmets.
Another Bahamas trip took place when the NHL had their Olympic break. The Atlantis was crawling with NHL players. I recognized Brian Boyle, who was sort of featured on an HBO special and seemed like a good dude. Went up to him and he couldn’t have been nicer. Met a couple of his teammates and every time we bumped into them that weekend we had a little chat.
That same trip I met a guy about an inch shorter than me and we started shooting the breeze. Real nice guy. Eventually I said, what do you do and he said I play for the Eagles. He and his agent were there and I felt bad for him when we was with the Colts for that bizarre 4th down play.
Sat next to 49ers punt returner Dexter Carter on a flight. We talked non stop. I knew a couple of his ex teammates from college and we traded stories. Seemed like a good guy.

Nicest: Mike Miller (former longtime Grizzlies and Heat 3pt shooter), Josh Dobbs, Freddie Freeman
Worst: Tyler Bray - he tried to hit on a girl we knew, she rejected him, he gave her the “do you even know who I am?” line.

Fred Dean from Ruston, San Francisco 49er, was always nice guy to speak to.
Bert Jones is still pretty cool to talk to.
Never been impressed with Andrew Whitworth. Not a jerk though, just distant and aloof.
Wrasler Bobby Easton(RIP) was always nice when they used to come to the Monroe Civic Center.
A lot of folks say that Chuck Finley(West Monroe) can be a jerk.

Tim Tebow backstage at a Chesney concert. He talked to me as a 15 yr old for about 20 min. One of the nicest people I’ve met period. Not just an athlete

Nicest: Jerry Rice. Met him a couple of times and it’s seems like all he wants to do is interact with you.
Worst: Kyler Murray. Huge fricking prick.

Hate, hate to agree with you because I am a 7th generation Dallasite, love the Cowboys, and loved Emmitt as a player- but kind of a dick in person and this is coming from a fan.
Biggest dick (likely a surprise to most): Grant Hill
Nicest, coolest, cannot say enough good things about him - Earl Campbell. Close second is Drew Pearson - gave me a Super Bowl ring, let me wear it for a couple of hours at a party, took pics, great guy.
Also really nice albeit reserved - Tim Duncan

Tebow is so nice it's basically fake.
Terry Bradshaw is a dick, but a likeable dick. He's charming charismatic and hilarious, but not some upstanding gentleman, and he knows it. His wife, however, is the biggest bitch on the planet.
MMA fighters and boxers are actually some of the nicest ppl you'll ever be around in public. Obviously some are assholes, but lots of even current UFC guys are just good dudes. Kind of like knowing you can kick anyones arse kind of makes you lose all the bullshite fake tough guy pretenses and you have nothing it prove.
Hacksaw Jim Duggan was an awesome guy, too. Known as one of the good dudes in Pro Wrestling for a reason.

When my daughter and her friend were in high school they went to Huntington Beach in So Cal one day. They saw Tank Abbott & Tito Ortiz (when they were still friends) and went over to talk to them. Said they were cool, gave a couple autographs. Then my daughter and her friend were leaving Tank and Tito got up and left. Leaving all their trash from Jack in the Box on the sand.

UFC early days is a lot different, though. Tank is notoriously a prick/bully.

OJ Simpson. No lie. Super nice. That was before he killed his wife, though.
