not the best, but when Roy(Roi?) Williams was in his prime, he could bring the wood with the best of them. Although his position of a run support safety has pretty much been eliminated in todays game

he was awful in coverage

Reed is the best i have seen play but watching Lott highlights and old games i got to go with him. I wish football was still that hard hitting

I was a younger kid when he was playing, and the Texas football climate less than 10 years ago was kill everyone who has the ball. My how things have changed so fast. and for the better IMO

It is amazing how fast texas high school football switched from ground and pound to the spread. That is a different discussion for a different time

I definitely can't argue with Ed Reed. But I have to say Troy Polamalu. He is just all over the field... seems like every time I've watched him play, he makes me say "wow" on many occasions. He is a game changer.

On another note, I think Earl Thomas could be the best to play the game by the time he hangs it up. Dude is scary good.

Lott was so good he initially played cornerback.

In his first season, he recorded seven interceptions at cornerback, helped the 49ers to win Super Bowl XVI, and also became only the second rookie in NFL history to return three interceptions for touchdowns.

His outstanding play resulted in his finishing second for Rookie of the Year honors, behind New York Giants linebacker Lawrence Taylor.

Lott switched to the safety position in 1985 because of his punishing tackling ability and ballhawking skill.
