GOAT gymnasts? How soon we forget about Nadia and Mary Lou.

They are Mike Weir to Simone Biles’ Tiger Woods. She has entered the pantheon of greatest American athletes to ever compete, right there with Phelps and Carl
Lewis. She is so far above and beyond the rest of the sport at an age where most of her past peers were doing cash making tours that it’s ridiculous.

The only other realistic options are Allyson Felix or Katie Ledecky.

You all know that it's going to be Rapinoe.

Biles is an easy choice imo. Seems like a no brainer

Biles would be my choice too, but the gymnasts never participate in the opening ceremony; it is too close to their events.

It would be such a shame if Naomi Osaka doesn't perform will for her home country in the Olympics after her recent battle of mental health.

I hope they allow Japan's Daughter to carry their flag.

My vote would be for Simone Biles. Will go down as the goat in gymnastics if she isn't already.

should be one of their top choices, she has carried the Flag for closing ceremony.

there is simone, and then there is the rest of female gymnasts.

Michael Phelps is the best choice, but there's one problem.

She is similar to her peers since she is doing tours or exhibitions

She’s supposed to be doing one in Dallas around October

The announcers were saying the other day that ledecky didn't see her family for 17 months because it would have interrupted her training due to covid. That's a level of dedication I would rarely possess...for anything. I think she'd fit if Biles can't.

I was thinking Biles or Ladecky.

Who lights the torch. My money is on Hideki. He is the biggest star in Japan. Could see him lighting it wearing his green jacket

It all depends on the schedule of the top choices.. SWIMMING starts at beginning of the games so most that swim in first few days won’t even walk in opening ceremony to rest. I think gymnastics starts early also.
Ledecky and Dressil for swimming would be good choices multiple olympics, gold measles and world records.
Simone in gymnastic is hard to beat if she want to do it she not a look at me look at me type person and May decline.
These top Olympic athletes have marketing people that will want them on tv for promotional reasons

I could see Italo taking it for the Brazilians and Kanoa for Japan if he can win this CT event today. Hideki seems to be their best option though.
