Titles in CFB were mythical until recently though. That's never been the case with baseball.

USC also hasn’t won the PAC 12 since 2002 nor have they made the NCAA Tournament since 2015.

You have to have nearly all of the following criteria or at least the majority:
1. A bunch of titles.
2. Excellence over multiple decades (probably at least 3)
3. Success from more than one coach.
4. You’re a threat to reach the CWS almost every year. A truckload of CWS appearances with a preference for post-1980 when people actually started watching or caring.
5. A bunch of memorable players or moments.

Yes i know this. I’m just trying to point out how you can have titles all you want but if the last time you were relevant, 9/11 hadn’t happened yet, you’re not a blue blood

USC hasn’t been relevant in Baseball in quite sometime. That’s like saying Nebraska is still . blue blood in college football…….what have you done recently along with the past?
Then you have no idea what blue blood means.
Its not what have you done for me lately or recency bias.
Blue bloods are historic giants and foundation of the sport.

In the 80s and half way through the 2000s Wichita st was a blue blood.

Once the blood turns blue does it stay that way forever?

No blue bloods have a track record of winning. Winning in the past, winning in the present.

Mark McGwire, Randy Johnson, Bret & Aaron Boone, Barry Zito, Mark Prior…. Just too much tradition for the recent rust to tarnish.

Absolutely not.

It’s debatable but to me, you have to ask the question: is Wichita State a blue blood or is Gene Stephenson a top ten college baseball coach? What were they before and after him?
I think State has a better argument because they won with and without Ron Polk.

Yeah, USC is too high to bring down anytime soon.

foundations of the sport at least pretend to be relevant occasionally
I’m 30. if I didn’t have a predisposed interest in the sport, it would be a coin flip whether USC still has an active program or not
that isn’t blue blood

Not tarnishing their program history. But I’m not gonna sit here and say their a blueblood when they haven’t been relevant in 20 years. This isn’t a recency bias. They won almost all their titles before the college baseball boom of the late 80s/early 90s.

You know your thread is fricking terrible when this guy’s posts are more logical and provide a better argument than your own.

Based on history, conference, school, and geography, it’s an easy bet they will be back someday. USC recently had an athletics malaise across the board. Recent actions prove they want out.

Look at the list of Hall of Famers in baseball. There is no such thing as blue bloods in college baseball. The sport is different from college football and basketball. Where did Mickey Mantle, Ty Cobb, Cy Young, Babe Ruth, Ken Griffey Jr, Roberto Clemente, and Miguel Cabrera play college baseball?
What the frick does any of this have to with college baseball? It's called amateur sports for a reason. You don't judge accomplishments and tradition off of how many professional players you had, you dumbass.
I've always thought of blueboods as programs that are instantly recognizable and connected to the sport. For me it would be Texas, LSU, and USC.
