Who are some notable stars that would’ve hit the portal had it been around since 2000?

First that comes to mind for me is Matt Cassel. Career backup for Matt leinart at usc who ended up still getting drafted in the 6th round and carved out a nice career as a journey man backup/ plug gap guy in the NFL. Who’s a guy you can think of who would’ve hit it big in the portal had it been around the past 20 years?

Simms would've been the more likely to leave.
He didn't officially get the starting job over Applewhite until his junior year. No way he waits out that competition today when he was such a hyped recruit.
