Boston is in a month. I would imagine that more of the elite marathoners would be all in on that before getting ready for the Olympics this summer.
Exactly. A white American won because LA isn't a major marathon.

Does the U.S. have any similar geography to the Great Rift Valley in East Africa?
Obviously the African runners are talented, but training at a mile high on completely flat ground will surely put you at an advantage when you show up to run at sea level in Berlin

Northern New Mexico, Northern Arizona, Parts of Colorado and Marfa to name a few areas. Northern Arizona University is a powerhouse distance school in the NCAA. There is a world class professional training group based in Santa Fe. Boulder is the epicenter for distance training and home to many world class runners. You can even find flat areas for long runs in places like Aspen and Durango. Marfa is too remote but so is the Rift Valley.

Lots of pros in Park City/SLC/Provo now as well
Mammoth Lakes used to be a major hub with Ryan Hall and Meb training there, but has largely fallen out of favor.
Also, a lot more Africans come over to the US for college than ever before. You have lots of African runners in US-based training groups now.

It doesn't matter what shoes they wear their gait is perfect. Whatever company offers up the most gets their endorsement.

Tokya was just a few weeks ago too
Also elites don't like to run bad times and LA is relatively hilly for a non-major marathon. I've been told that's why a Houston gets a decent field cause it is flat as shite, 68 meters elevation gain vs 943 gain

I bet you’re a lot of fun at a shakedown run.
