re: Which team grabs the last CFB Playoff spot?

I think TCU is the best team out of the 3. Maybe not the most deserving, but the best team.
Ohio State is nothing without Barrett and I don't see them beating Wisconsin
Baylor's defense, especially their secondary, was exposed. They needed 3 lazy ball security fumbles after big Texas Tech gains in their territory and a batted down 2 point conversion to win. How the hell would they stop Amari Cooper or the Oregon Offense?
I think TCU is the most complete team of the 3 with the best shot at winning a playoff game. I don't know if they would be able to do enough offensively against an Alabama(look at how Texas was able to shut them down) but defensively I think they could hold their own. And against an Oregon I think offensively they could keep up.

The answer is Baylor.
Baylor
* Quality Wins - #5 TCU, #20 Oklahoma, #12 Kansas St.
* Loses - West Virginia
TCU

Ohio St.
* Quality wins #10 Michigan St., #18 Minnesota, #14 Wisconsin

Ohio State gets a quality win vs Minnesota but TCU doesn't that's interesting. All of Baylors main opponents were in conference and TCU has played every conference team Baylor has. The only thing I give in favor of Baylor is the head to head against TCU in a very close game but TCU beat the opponent that beat Baylor. So right now I'd easily give it to TCU. I'm keeping Ohio State out just because that loss to Va. Tech looks very bad.

IMO a win at home by 3 points doesn't necessesarily mean that you're better than the team you beat. Had they beat TCU by a TD, I could concede that Baylor was indeed better than TCU. I don't really have a dog in the fight, I just think TCU is the better team and would make the playoff more interesting.
Not just that but Baylor benefitted from 2 extremely sketchy pass interference calls at the end of that game. Had either call not gone Baylor's way at the very worst the game goes to overtime.
TCU lost that game more than Baylor won it. Had TCU just played clock management and not ran out of bounds every damn play the comeback doesn't happen. Also it doesn't happen on a neutral field. TCU was the better team that day they just didn't play smart with the clock at the end.
On a neutral field TCU wins and is the better team.

And TCU giving up 30 to Kansas? Didn't Baylor blow out Kansas? Didn't Kansas struggle against Southeast Missouri?
Look, I think TCU is a worthy team, but head-to-head has to mean something. People on here have been so quick to dismiss it.
TCU scored 82 against Texas Tech while Baylor almost lost to them

At least Texas Tech is better than Kansas. Look, we can go back and forth like this all day. In my opinion, Baylor has more quality wins than TCU. I prefer quality wins over "quality" losses.

Three close teams, I will go with the eye test and pick TCU. In my opinion they are the best of the three. I actually think it is easier to pick TCU with Ohio State still in the discussion, makes it easier to put less significance on the head to head and just pick the best of the three.

I watched both the TCU-Kansas game and Baylor-Texas Tech Game
In the Kansas game it was a cold weather game with high winds and there was a bunch of flukey shite that happened that helped Kansas. One Kansas TD drive was aided by a roughing the punter penalty, followed by a botched snap on a Field Goal attempt that was thrown up in the air and somehow caught by a Kansas player for a first down.
Another TD for Kansas was a batted ball that hovered in the air and found its way right to a Kansas receiver who ran 75 yards for a TD.
Baylor-Texas Tech was played in an air conditioned dome and Texas Tech was the better team by watching it. Tech moved the ball with ease and fumbled 3 times after big gains because of lazy ball security. That's about the only way Baylor could stop them.

TCU also beat Minnesota.

People said the same thing when Braxton went down. They only have a week to prove it, but if Cardale looks good and the defense can limit Melvin Gordon, things could get interesting. It has to be a convincing win with Cardale looking great though.

Yeah, Urban knows what he is doing. And, if you think about it, there is a big game between the end of the season and the playoff games. I think Urban could have a QB ready in time.
I could understand the committee leaving them out, though.

Im just happy to sit back and watch, personally. Every team this year is pretty mediocre, so it's not overly exciting for me.
As for Ohio state, had they beat Wisonsin this coming week I feel they should have jumped TCU/Baylor. That was my opinion while we had JT and even then it's a tough call. Our defense is soft, so with JT we could at least out score anybody we played. With Cardale, I'm not so sure and won't feel so bad being left out if it comes to that.
On a positive note, we return pretty much everyone next year, including two Heisman QBs.

In the Big 12 I think all wins and losses are equal in weight because they all play each other. TCU and Baylor have the same record in the Big 12 so I think it should go to who has a stronger ooc schedule which is TCU right now. Then comes the issue of conference champion which would be Baylor if they get by K State next week. If TCU would go to the playoffs over Baylor even though Baylor won their conference would be a huge mess.

Two extremely sketchy pass interference calls helped Baylor win.
In fact as we are discussing this here is a good reddit post breaking down the last 1:20 of the Baylor-TCU game, with links to both sketchy calls that even had Todd Blackledge calling bullshite: LINK /
Had either one of those calls not gone Baylor's way there is a good chance TCU wins the game.

Ohio State needs a top 4 loss. I don't think the committee would put both TCU/Baylor in and leave the Buckeyes out.
They should worry about stopping Melvin Gordon first. Guy might run for 500 on that soft run defense.

It really is sad how far our defense has fallen from the Tressel era.

If there are 2 spots available and Ohio State has an ugly win against Wisconsin I could see Ohio State getting left out. Ohio State might get unfairly punished because they lost their qb and the committee thinks Baylor and TCU are currently better teams.

Not sure I blame it on anything but coaching here.
We clearly have the talent. Maybe it is the schemes we are running.

If OSU wins and there are 2 spots open there is 0% chance two Big 12 teams make it in.
