Which sports do refs have the most/least influence?

To me the most is NFL football. The “automatic first down” penalties give refs too much power. Refs make mistakes every game. We’ve all seen refs make mistakes on catch/no catch, knee down/not down, improper ball placement. But those can be remedied with reviews. They also make mistakes on penalty calls which involved a lot of judgement. And those can not be corrected and to make it worse, those penalties are penalized to the fullest extent with the automatic 1st down. To reduce these refs influence and judgement errors, nfl should do yard penalty + replay the down.
The least is UFC and boxing. Sure there’s an early stoppage every now and then. But I can’t remember the last i’m watching a fight and I go “fricking ref” or “what an awful call”. They just let the fighters fight.

Good point on the NFL. I do think the refs have too much influence on the game and really has ruined it. Can't even watch it until the second round of the playoffs anymore.
However, I think the sport where the "refs" (umps) have most influence is MLB. Particularly the home plate ump. His perception of the strike zone can really dictate the outcome of a game.

Most is football. Least is hockey. Even if a bad penalty is called, still no guarantee the beneficiary will score. In football the refs can escort a team to the EZ when they want.

The most influence is basketball… fouls can be so subjective sometimes leading to a free throw disparity and then players fouling out which is a factor at crunch time

Least is tennis.
Most: soccer, basketball, football (in that order of 1a, 1b, 1c)
Golf, while reds don’t dictate much, is not a sport.
A sport is defined as an athletic competition where your opponent can DIRECTLY alter what you do.

I'd say MLB has the most influence, because the ump is involved with every single pitch of the game.

The least team sport is probably volleyball (at least at the highest levels where there are hardly any violation called any more, and everything can be challenged).

Soccer and it's not close. Scoring is generally very low. Most leagues average 2-3 goals per game. Imagine if an American football league averaged 14-21 points for a whole year.
