I'd personally rank him top 5, because he's the best SF ever.

Larry Bird reacted to your defense and made the smart play based on what he was given. LeBron (and Shaq obviously started this trend) simply makes up his mind what he's going to do and does it. That's all well and good if the refs are going to let you get away with it, as they often do in the modern era, but it isn't classic basketball.

LeBron travels, bulldozes, lowers shoulders, flops, whines, and just genuinely BS's too much to be considered the greatest anything ever. Everybody knows it, too. Don't even know why it's a debate.

it overrides the fact Lebron is more accomplished in basically every way*(and still going)...I think it might be time to give up this fight

If prime Larry played in the weakass East most his career with the rules eliminating hard fouls and hand-checking, he'd make LeBron look like an average player by comparison. Want to underscore the fact Larry accrued a 24-10-6 career average with a near 50/40/90 despite playing the last 4 years of career with a basically broken back in an NBA dominated by physicality, hard fouls, and hand checking. Also, Larry's 3pt pct is superior to LeBron's and he played in an era that didn't emphasize it much.

2010 - Lebron struggles in Game 5 pretty bad. In Game 6, he has 29-19-10 in a loss. You’re thing about sedation appears to be something Skip Bayless said years later.

You do not want to go down this road with the testimonial evidence I have from that time evidencing he basically quit on the team by that point

quote:

Lebron melted down to the tune of 51 points in an OT loss to the best Warriors team ever.

He quit on the team after scoring the 51 evidenced by his refusal to shoot the ball the first half of that OT and the game was lost by then.

quote:

Lebron broke his hand after Game 1 yet played every game.

Yeah that conspiracy theory is kind of flimsy but glad to know you also believe Santa Claus is still real

quote:

I don’t even know what this is. They were like 2nd in the West when get hurt. Out of playoffs when he got back.

Then you weren't paying attention to the happenings that season

quote:

They would have won that series and possibly repeated had things gone differently.

Next to the fact Bron got sonned by Cameron Payne this is the stretch of stretches since they weren't playing in a bubble year

quote:

I think you just hate him as a person.

I presented his deficiencies as a player quite clearly multiple times

Do we have to have a Larry Bird post every 2 freaking weeks?
An all time favorite of mine no matter where I place him on a list.

I love how the top 5 lists on here rarely had bird, but now they are putting him ahead of fricking Lebron just to slight him.

It’s so pathetic

This is, wow.

Are you new to basketball?

Also, I know it’s off topic, but could you please explain to the class your emotions when Lebron did the 25 straight point OT thing against the Kobe killing Pistons for us?

Is this the part where we pretend like guys like Larry never complained to officials or got away with stuff because they were superstars?

And also pretend that LeBron is unique in being overboard with this stuff in his era?

Calling a spade a spade, man. Y’all act like LeBron being ranked top 5 all-time but behind a person or so is a big slight.

With the exception of 85 (when he got in a bar fight and injured a finger on his shooting hand before the Finals),

Can you imagine the field day the media and this board would have if a top player did this today?

I imagine the word thug, trash, problem, etc…. Would be thrown around a lot. If LeBron did this?!?!? My god

The way pro athletes lived back in the day before social media and all the technological advances, athletes with the exception of Michael Jordan to a degree could actually live secret lives

I don’t care if you rank Lebron 100. Your reasoning behind it is just bad.

My reasoning is bad because you don't agree with the conclusion?

There were plenty of whine-asses back then. Kareem was easily the biggest. Go find a clip of Bird contorting his face and pleading to the refs to get his way, though. That just wasn't his style. You can see him talking to the refs, but nothing like Kareem, Duncan, or LeBron.

My personal top 5. But definitely top 10. But when you are a complete ORIGINAL, what does it matter what your number is? There was only one Larry Bird, like there was only one Hakeem, one MJ, one Maravich, one Jordan, one Curry, one Magic, one Julius, one Stockton. To me, the number doesn't matter, it's were you a complete original.

one Maravich

As an aside, as important as Maravich and Pettit were for LSU and the sport in general, Rudy Macklin's the most important player in the history of the LSU basketball program. Without Macklin, the basketball program as we know it and what Dale Brown did with it, wouldn't exist, we'd be the equivalent to Ole Miss or A&M or Mississippi State or some lame program like that.

Best comparison I have for Bird if he played today would be Luka Doncic, even if they don't play same position. Bird's game in today's NBA would be eerily similar.

That said, he is a Top 10 player for me. Don't care where you slot him.
