Maybe slightly ahead of Duncan, so top tier.

For me? Second behind Jordan. For others. Top 5

Prime Bird is a Top 5 player of all-time...easily.
He walked into the league and dominated immediately.
Larry Bird finished top 2 in MVP votes every year from 1981 to 1988 He finished 2nd,2nd,2nd,1st,1st,1st,2nd,and 2nd. This streak began during only his second season in the league.
Bobby Knight said Bird had maybe the best hand-eye coordination of any basketball player ever.
He could've won 6 NBA MVPs in a row but writers back then weren't giving it to the young guys.
Problem is he basically broke his back and his career was too short.
But from 1980-1988. Damn.

Top 10: Took a 32 and 29 win team (the 2 years prior) to 61 wins in his first year. Won it all in year 2.
Ended up winning 2 more and frankly when you compare him to the LA Lakers and Philly 76ers of that era -- he had less help.

I think it's still the biggest turnaround in NBA history.
And the roster was the same...
The only addition was Bird.
They went from 29-53 to 61-21 in Larry's first year. Lost in the Eastern Conference Finals to loaded Philly.
Bird not only ran away with Rookie of the Year against Magic, he finished in the Top 5 of MVP voting as a rookie.

1. Jordan
2. Shaq
3. Bird
4. Kobe
5. Magic
6. Kareem
8. Duncan
9. AI
10. LeBum
I conducted my top 10 on raw talent and pure dominance, somebody you would pick on a video game to make a “super team.” I’m not factoring playoff wins or finals wins

I don't see how Wilt could possibly not be on a top 10 list

Number 2, Behind only Joe Burrow, for top athlete in any sport, All Time.

Did you see him play ? Just curious.

It’s going to ruffle the feathers of a lot of folks on here, and I’m no fan of him off the court, but LeBron is better than Bird. I think Larry is easily top 5 though, and is probably #3.

Id have to look at who i would put ahead of him first
MJ
Lebron
Magic
Kareem
Shaq
Kobe
so 7 I guess can't really justify putting anyone else ahead of him. I guess you could argue about Kobe or Shaq to get him top five. Top 4 are pretty solid on my list.

You know why Lebron is not better than Bird and never will be?
Because his peers and the legends of the game do not talk about James, the way they do Bird and its not just a few or most it is all of them.

most of his peers would rank James ahead of Bird.
Lebron vs Bird frankly isn’t a discussion anymore, outside of this board who has had their feelings hurt too much by Lebron
