Oh wow, the irony.

Where is ULL at and what is that? I think La Tech will survive this and continue to play good football no matter the conference. For a smaller school La Tech outside of LSU is the most respected football program in the state. ULM will soon be third.

It isn't the school, its the city, Ruston. Just too small a market.

See the issue is that Ruston isn’t Louisiana Tech’s market. And I can see it being hard to sell a conference leader on this when compared to the others who can simply throw out DFW, Charlotte, Houston, and not have to give any explanation. Basically I-20 through North LA is Tech’s Market, and the bubble of South Arkansas about 50 miles to each side around Eldorado is Tech’s market.

If CUSA and Tech had a decent TV deal, they could actually reach the people in these areas. Everyone in the area I mentioned is fully aware of Louisiana Tech’s presence in Ruston. Its near impossible to watch the games for anyone without both a tv subscription AND internet service.

Watching ULL and Louisiana Tech fans talk shite to each other is like watching Kelly and Pam play each other in ping-pong on The Office.

La Tech has been a decent overall athletics program - good football, both the men’s/women’s hoops teams are usually solid, and a really good baseball program.

Really good baseball program???

They just made their second NCAA Tournament appearance since 1987.

might as well save money on travel and create some good rivalry games

Having Tech, ULM, ULL, USM in the same division would be great. The crowds would be much better and let's be honest... every one of those schools could use the ticket revenue (as could any school honestly)

Congratulations with that conversation

Jay Walker is saying Marshall, Old Dominion, James Madison, and USM to the belt 100%.

I don't think he would have put his neck out by saying that on a board without it being true.

Yea, I'm thinking Tech will get an AAC invite when the next shuffling happens. I don't think Tech would ever come to the SBC simply because the eastern schools don't want three members in Louisiana.

I don't think it's a UL/ULM blockade at all, I think our respective presidents would vote you guys into the conference in a heartbeat. And all the fricking around we do on the MSB, I would love to be in a conference with Tech.

Hell yeah, love me some Jenna Fischer!

Meh, UL is the closet thing Tech has to an instate rivalry now. Friendly banter is always fun with the Cajuns…they're a VERY sensitive bunch.

The AAC poaching markets a day before news comes out that Disney is about to shop ESPN make their hand in it even more obvious. They will soon have properties in Charlotte, San Antonio, DFW (assuming SMU is on the next bus out to the B12 or MWC), Houston, and Miami to sell. Even if those properties have little to no market penetration. I didn't add Birmingham because UAB actually has above average athletics and makes sense, even if Birmingham does have a sizeable market.

If this were a true make the AAC better move by their presidents, Marshall, WKU, UAB, and Latech would be headed to the AAC and I don't think anyone bats an eye at that announcement.

If they stay focused on the big picture I’m confident. Realignment is far from over. The top AAC schools are livid. Boise and Memphis are on the door of a Big 12 invite. When the media deals are up in 2023, all hell is going to break loose at the P5 level and at that point Tech will find a home once things trickle down to our level, whether that be in the AAC, MWC or Sun Belt.

The top AAC schools should be pissed taking media markets over quality of programs. Adopting the failed strategy of CUSA 2.0

There's alot of smoke with this. I would have preferred WKU back instead of ODU or JMU for the basketball rivalry alone, but USM and Marshall would be solid adds

First order of business for CUSA presidents should be to fire Judy Mcleod. Second order of business should be to throw a buttload of money at Karl Benson to build them back up.

He has experience being on the bad and good sides of conference realignment. He has great relationships across the country with athletic offices and networks. He salvaged the SBC last realignment and helped position it to where it stands today.
