He is a special talent, but not a leader. Just a hired gun, looking to make money and play when he wants. He sat out a year with an injury nobody can really describe that mysteriously flares up when he wants a few days off. The projection is he misses 15-20 games a year minus any additional injuries just for load management for the rest of his career.
agree. his refusal to play as much as his contemporaries is really strange. it sets a bad precedent and almost makes me root against him.

Where does he rank amongst the likes of LBJ, Bird, Durant, Pippen, Dr. J, etc?

Erving - 30,025 (8th all time)
Durant - 22,940 (36th all time)
Bird - 21,791 (39th all time)
Pippen - 18,940 (64th all time)
Kawhi - 9,391 (406th all time)

How many players get traded to Toronto as punishment and win a title
Posted on 2/17/20 at 12:49 pm to Hamma1122
tor was a stacked roster up against as hampered an opponent as we have ever seen in the finals. Let us not forget that tor had a better record last year in games kawhi sat out than in the games he played. Oh and they are on pace to have an even better record this season and didn’t really add anyone to the squad and also lost dan green along w kawhi.

Kawhi will not get past #4 or #5, but if he wins a 3rd title with a 3rd team and becomes 3 time Finals MVP then he is above KD. KD needs to win another title without 3 all stars starting next to him.

Basketball reference uses comparisons based off win shares. LeBron has 14 seasons of 10+ win shares. Kawhi has 1.
Kawhi's player comparisons are Jimmy Butler and Anthony Davis.
He's in a tier with guys like Pippen, which is not bad. It's no insult to be pushing top 25 all time or so. He's not LeBron, Durant or Bird, though.

Need more time to judge Kawhi. Kawhi offensive game is a totally different animal now. He wasnt a good offensive player at all early in his career and hes lethal on that end now.

Hes as good as all of these guys now. Issue is, this didnt start until last year. He was nowhere close to these guys before then.

That's the thing. If you're ranking all timers, Kawhi has maybe 4 seasons at this point that are historically great.
Guys like Durant and LeBron had 7-8 seasons comparable to Kawhi's best at the same age. At the height of his ability, Kawhi has been as good as the greats, but resume wise, he hasn't done it nearly as consistently at the same age.
